Naoya Hida’s 2026 Releases, Including Updated Favourites and a Brand New Chronograph
Since the brand’s founding in 2012 (and debut watch release in 2019), Naoya Hida has evolved from one of the greatest examples of Japanese IYKYK, creating vintage-inspired vintage watches in exceptionally low volumes that combine classical design, a pared-back aesthetic and crisp engraving for a truly distinctive take on artisanal watchmaking. One that has been steadily growing in scale, from an initial series of seven watches to around a hundred watches per year in recent years. The brand’s 2026 capsule collection is significant not just for the new watches — 10 models in total — but for the scope and breadth of the designs. In addition to the three models which are carried over from last year, we get seven others, some of which are evolutions of existing models, some are completely new, and some are complete surprises.
NH TYPE1E
First of all, the latest version of the brand’s initial, and best-known, offering is the TYPE1E, a nomenclature update from the outgoing TYPE1D, which reflects a few design tweaks. The case size has shrunk a little, from 37mm to 26, while the newly designed domed sapphire crystal adds a little height, from 9.8mm to 10.9mm. Aside from these structural shifts, the fifth generation of the TYPE1 still holds all the details that have earned it a place as a modern cult classic — the calatrava-style case with oversized crown, the manually wound Valjoux-based calibre and, most prominently, the German silver dial with engraved Breguet numerals and blued leaf hands. Production between 2026 and 2027 is estimated at around 25 pieces, with a USD 19,500 price tag.
NH TYPE2C-2
The Naoya Hida TYPE2 was first released in 2020, following the formula of the TYPE1, with old-world design interpreted through the lens of contemporary crafts — the hand-carved indices of the German silver dial showed a more mid-century aesthetic, with engraved Arabics at cardinal hours, and a central seconds hand. This year, the model evolves into the TYPE2C-2, the first watch from the brand to feature a porcelain dial, an important evolution for Naoya Hida, allowing them to step beyond silver, engraved dials into a new field of expression, one that is still in line with the traditional aesthetics of the brand. Expect 10 pieces between 2026 and 2027, with a USD 19,500 price.
NH TYPE3B-4
Next up, something a little heavier and more complicated. The TYPE3B-4 is the follow-up of a 2024 model, in that it offers a solid yellow gold case with hand engraving, and a moonphase on the dial. While the Art Nouveau-inspired case engraving on the flanks and lugs is the clear discussion point, it’s worth paying attention to the moon phase. Not only is the classical interpretation as finely engraved as everything else Naoya Hida does, but it’s set against a Lapis Lazuli night sky. The gold theme is continued on the hands and leaf-filled numerals. Unsurprisingly, this is a quite low production watch, with around two being made per year, with a retail of USD 108,300.
NH TYPE5B and TYPE5B-1
In 2024, Naoya Hida introduced a completely new case shape, the rectangular TYPE5B. This year, the design has been carefully refined, with an updated dial design, shorter lugs and a broader stepped case flank. All relatively minor adjustments, but ones that add up to create a greater impact overall. The larger hands and stepped lugs make a difference, too. While the TYBE5B has the familiar mid-century Arabic layout, the TYPE5B-1 swaps them for more refined Breguet-style numerals, and on top of that uses an acrylic crystal for maximum retro charm. Both will be produced in around 10 pieces for 2026/27 and are priced at USD 26,700.
NH TYPE7A
We might have buried the lede a little here — the TYPE7A, which is, as you can tell, the brand’s first chronograph. The mid-century Patek Philippe inspiration is very much in evidence, from the curled lugs through to the sporty pump pushers. It’s a sporty and elegant chronograph in a compact 36mm steel case, with the familiar German silver dial. The movement choice is very interesting — as Naoya Hida has sourced a small number of old stock Valjoux 23 calibres, one of the most legendary manually-wound movements of all time, that show up in the catalogues of all the greats, from Patek Philippe to Vacheron Constantin and more. In every respect, the TYPE7A is a loving tribute to this golden era. It will be produced in around 10 pieces from 2026/27 and will sell for USD 38,300
NH TYPE8A
Finally, the other entirely new Naoya Hida model is the NH TYPE8A, a compact 31mm watch inspired by models like the Patek Philippe Ref. 96 and the Breguet Ref. 3210. Powered by the new calibre 2326SS, this small, dress number has a traditional subseconds at six layout, an open caseback and a domed sapphire crystal. It will be produced in 20 pieces from 2026/27 and has a price of USD 23,100.
