Vacheron Constantin expands its Overseas line with the Grand Complication Openface
Marking a major milestone in its 270th anniversary year, Vacheron Constantin expands the boundaries of sport-luxury watchmaking with the Overseas Grand Complication Openface. This is the first time the Geneva-based manufacture has brought a minute repeater to the Overseas collection, combining it with a perpetual calendar, tourbillon, and power reserve indicator in a contemporary titanium case that reflects both innovation and tradition.
The watch is powered by the manual-winding calibre 2755 QP, a movement with 602 components housed within a case that measures 44.5mm in diameter and just 13.1mm in thickness. Crafted in grade 5 titanium, the case retains the sporty character of the Overseas while integrating one of the most demanding complications in watchmaking.
Integrating a Minute Repeater into Overseas Case

The calibre 2755 QP viewed through the caseback reveals the regulator bar and engraved gold components.

A closer look at the Overseas Grand Complication Openface reveals the intricate display of its openface sapphire dial and floating indications.
Vacheron Constantin has spent over a year and a half re-engineering the Overseas case to accommodate the minute repeater while maintaining 30 metres of water resistance. Traditionally, chiming complications are difficult to combine with a sports watch, especially with a side-mounted slide mechanism. Yet this model preserves the slender proportions of the Overseas and introduces a sapphire dial that reveals the movement’s underlying architecture.
Despite the complexity, the calibre 2755 QP is just 7.9mm thick. Its perpetual calendar is accurate until the year 2100 and includes date, day, month, and leap year indications. The minute repeater operates via a proprietary centripetal regulator, developed by Vacheron Constantin to ensure smooth and consistent chime intervals while remaining completely silent. This mechanical brake is mounted beneath a hand-polished gold bar and engraved with the initials of Jean-Marc Vacheron, visible through the exhibition caseback.
Finishing in Full View

Skeletonised dial with modern finishing contrasts anthracite and silver with floating blue indications.
Viewed from the front, the transparent sapphire dial offers a striking visual contrast between anthracite NAC-treated bridges, rhodium-plated wheels, and blue metallised calendar subdials. The tourbillon, which also serves as the running seconds display, rotates at a steady 2.5 Hz.
Finishing standards remain high throughout. The movement is certified with the Hallmark of Geneva and features mirror-polished repeater hammers, bevelled and satin-brushed bridges, and circular satin-brushed wheels. Every detail has been considered, from the openworked tourbillon bridge to the engraved inertia weights on the repeater mechanism.
Versatile by Design: Titanium and Interchangeable Straps
The case and integrated bracelet are executed in lightweight grade 5 titanium, finished with alternating sandblasted, polished, and brushed surfaces. This new textural mix is distinctive to titanium Overseas models. Like the rest of the collection, this reference includes Vacheron Constantin’s quick-change strap system, and is delivered with blue rubber and blue alligator leather strap options in addition to the titanium bracelet.
Expanding the Overseas Line with High Complications
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Grand Complication Openface is not a limited edition, but it will be produced in limited quantities due to the complexity of its construction. Its arrival marks a significant evolution of the Overseas collection, merging the utility and presence of a luxury sports watch with the technical achievement of haute horlogerie.
