The Tonda line is one of the most representative of Parmigiani’s classic style and now it expands its appeal by means of a new series of feminine watches.

The expanded Tonda collection for women combines the watchmaking art of Fleurier’s workshops with the fineness of true goldsmithing, a combination that is manifested in various designs that include such delicate materials as aventurine, gold lace and mother-of-pearl, to which is added the inevitable opulence of diamonds. These pink gold watches come in diameters of 33 and 36 millimeters and are awesomely accompanied by mechanical calibers.

In these declinations of the new Parmigiani Tonda, well differentiated by their dial craftsmanship, the luminous games reflected in them are intended to give each piece a particular character, in accordance with the values of the young company founded by Michel Parmigiani in 1996. However, to the essential aspect of each watch is added the most romantic of complications: the moonphase (shown at 12 o’clock), which is accompanied by an elongated date window at 6, inset within the small seconds register. The watches leading the expansion of the Tonda series are the Tonda Métropolitaine 36mm and the Tonda Sélène 36mm. Both lines come in versions with an aventurine “Galaxy” dial or an elegant mother-of-pearl dial with a gold lace disc decoration.

The Tonda Métropolitaine Aventurine “Galaxy” features the PF310 self-winding movement with a gold oscillating mass, and has a 36 mm diameter case with a bezel set with 46 IF diamonds (internally flawless) for a total of 1.8 ct. The dial evokes the flickering of a night sky, with a few copper inclusions illustrating the rich radiance of starlight. The skeletonized hands are shaped like sage leaves, and the small seconds register lies at the 6 o’clock position. A blue sapphire cabochon adorns the crown and is matches with the Hermès blue crocodile leather strap.

For its part, the Tonda Sélène Mother of Pearl has the same 36 mm gold case, but its dial is now more luminous because of the seashell and the gold lace that centrally highlights the hour disc. Sélène bears the PF318 caliber (with a 50-hour power reserve) which includes a moon phase complication at 12 o’clock and small seconds at 6 o’clock. A white opal cabochon adorns the crown. A calf strap made by Hermès interestingly extends its aesthetic versatility.

If for some reason the 36 mm cases of these Tondas seem too large, you also may opt for one of the “little sisters,” the 33 mm, three-handed versions, with or without moonphase. Both the Tonda Métropolitaine Mother-of-pearl and Tonda Sélène Aventurine “Galaxy” are available in a 33 mm pink gold case with a 60-diamond set bezel, now totaling 0.8 ct. These smaller versions of the new Tondas for women also come with same automatic movements: the PF318 with moonphase and date on the Tonda Sélène and the PF310 without both on the Tonda Métropolitaine. Naturally, the Hermès leather straps continue to be part of this show of craftsmanship and delicacy.
