Parmigiani Fleurier celebrates 25 years of watchmaking with new collection

A New Direction

Michel Parmigiani is taking his renowned company through some transformative changes with a new brand signature and a reinvention of their identity. The celebration of 25 years of independence as a watchmaker and the embarkation of their new era begins with a collection of slender, elegant sport watches that feature intricate complications and integrated bracelets. The collection will introduce the brand-new logo at 12 o’clock in a vertically aligned oval applique.

The collection is the brainchild of Parmigiani Fleurier’s new CEO, Guido Terreni. “In the last 25 years, Parmigiani Fleurier has been able to create mechanical art at the highest level, thanks to the unique mastery of Michel Parmigiani. We intend to transmit this powerful heritage to the watchmaking purists of tomorrow. An uncompromising crowd of a select few, seeking personal hedonistic pleasure, who are savvy in watchmaking, appreciate sartorial craft on their timepieces, and have a strong sense of style and refinement,” says Mr. Terreni.

Each watch will bear the DNA of this reimagining of the brand including a delicate Grain d’Orge guilloché dial pattern and will include a few of Parmigiani Fleurier’s iconic in-house movements. The collection includes an annual calendar, a chronograph, a micro-rotor and a splendid split seconds chronograph.

You’ll recognize some of the classic PF style like the fluted bezel and the teardrop lugs, but this collection will bring a far sportier aesthetic to their luxury watches.

The Tonda PF Micro-Rotor

First in the collection is the Tonda PF Micro-Rotor. The full platinum 950 micro-rotor brings a self-winding movement in a slim configuration that measures only 3 mm due with an oscillating weight that is integrated into the PF703 movement to save valuable real estate. It’s an unexpected two-hand watch with hours and minutes as well as a date window at the 6 o’clock position. The dial is simple and refined with a warm gray, matte guilloché pattern and is visually organized and minimal.

The Tonda PF Chronograph

Moving into a sportier arena, the Tonda PF Chronograph features the in-house caliber PF070 in a 40mm case. This watch is also available in either rose gold or stainless steel, but the guilloché dial has changed color to a rich, navy blue. The colorway is carefully balanced with the three sub-dials worked almost invisibly from a distance to maintain a minimalist approach. The pushers are beautifully executed and draw upon the classic PF teardrop shape.

The Tonda PF Annual Calendar

Rounding out the collection, the Tonda PF Annual Calendar begins to play with both the complexity and the colorway. The dark gray guilloché dial maintains the clean look and feel with nearly invisible weekday and month sub-dials and the cleverly designed date positioned along the minute track. However, PF shakes things up with the double moon phase in a gorgeous blue sub-dial featuring a 122-year moon phase for both hemispheres with the PF339 movement.

The Tonda PF Split Seconds Chronograph

Finally, the pinnacle of the collection is the Tonda PF Split Seconds Chronograph. This exceptional model is limited to 25 pieces and is a fitting homage for a 25-year anniversary celebration. This timepiece features a dial of solid platinum in a sandblasted finish that pairs beautifully with the platinum case and integrated bracelet. The caliber inside with the PF361, based on the manufacturer’s much lauded ChronOr. The beautifully open-worked 18ct rose gold bridges and mainplate are testament to the quality craftsmanship and deep sophistication of this remarkable watch.

A Fitting Tribute Collection

The Tonda PF collection gives the Parmigiani Fleurier new branding a stunning launch and adds several beautiful new models to the must-have Maison of collectors who know the true value of the PF quality and craftsmanship. Where Michel Parmigiani brings heritage, skill and knowledge, Guido Terreni brings sartorial allure, and a sense of contemporary luxury in tune with the times we live in. This is a fitting celebration for 25 years of making watches that exude refined excellence without a trace of conspicuous consumption mentality.
