Introducing the Tiffany & Co. CT60 Black DLC
To be specific, the watch was a special timepiece belonging to President Franklin Delano Roosevelt of USA, whose son-in-law had given the watch to him as a gift in 1945. It was a triple calendar watch made by the Movado company for Tiffany’s and beyond the fact that it was the property of an individual of great historical note, what was more significant, perhaps, is that President Roosevelt is known to have worn the watch to the Yalta conference, where he met with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin to discuss matters of stability and peace in post-Nazi Europe.
The CT60 collection unveiled in 2015 transposed President Roosevelt’s watch into several iterations. Starting, obviously, with a triple calendar watch (40mm), albeit, now with hands to indicate date, day and month rather than the apertures in the original. There was also a chronograph version (42mm) as well as a time-only version (34 and 40mm), both with a date window place at 6 o’clock.
The 2017 CT60 Black DLC, first of all, as the name suggests, features a stainless steel, black DLC coated case available in a chronograph or a time-only form. The next notable point of deviation from the 2015 versions is the Arabic numerals used for the hours, which are now metal appliqués rather than the earlier poudré numerals.
And needless to say, with summer around the corner, Tiffany & Co. have fitted this rugged CT60 with a black and white nato strap.
