Introducing the NORQAIN Adventure Neverest GMT Collection

The Low-Down

NORQAIN ‘NEVEREST’ is aptly named; this is the second collection of new watches the brand has launched in the course of just a month, so clearly there is not much rest to be had at the manufacture’s Biel based headquarters.

Inspired by mountain climbing, with the Swiss Alps portrayed in the logo, the collection launched in August were three handers. The new collection, which focuses on three handsome 41mm GMT models, take their inspiration from Mount Everest, and they’re the first GMT timepieces in the brand’s Adventure line.

Forged from stainless steel, one variation features an all-black appearance with DLC finishing and a sunset colour on the GMT hour scale, while the other two models are in polished and satined stainless steel with a black dial.

The non-DLC models come in Royal Blue or Forest Green, easily identified by the splash of color appropriate to each watch to represent night time hours on the GMT hour scale. There is also the instantly recognisable NORQAIN dial pattern and the date window at 3 o’clock.

The NEVEREST Adventure watches also feature a steel bi-directional-rotating bezel with a ceramic ring. The time in a second time zone is easily legible with X1 Superluminova on all indexes and hands.

The watch is powered by a COSC certified Calibre NN20/2, produced in collaboration with movement manufacturer Kenissi. Launched in February of last year, this movement is reliable and robust with a 70-hour power reserve.

The NORQAIN NN20/2 movement has a jumping hour hand that is adjusted forward or backward to set the local time and date. The date can also be set forward or backward, so there is no need to advance the calendar an entire month forward to correct it.

Thoughtful features include sturdy crown protection and the polished NORQAIN plate on the left side of the case. This can be engraved and personalized with a name, motto or date. There’s also a see through caseback.

As for straps, you are spoiled for choice. There’s a stainless steel bracelet, a flex fabric strap or a colour coordinated striped NATO strap.

Water resistant to 100 meters, the watches are ready for adventure whether it be at the top of the world or in the darkest depths of the ocean.

IMHO

A trusty watch collection, and a good cause; every purchase of a NORQAIN watch helps the brand to contribute to the Butterfly Help Project and bring change to the lives of children in Nepal.

NORQAIN’S contributions to the Butterfly Help Project seek to support the Nepalese Sherpa families of those lost to the ever present dangers of mountaineering by directly supporting local families and schools.

Incidentally, the collection name ‘NEVEREST’ is not actually about never taking a break. It’s a trademarked name representing NORQAIN’s commitment to quality, innovation and, in their words, ‘conquering the summits in the Swiss mechanical watch industry.’
