Introducing the Mancheront Pacer, a Pulsometer done different
The Low Down
Kickstarter is a hotbed of new watch ventures, and it takes something a little bit special to rise to the top of the pile. And that’s exactly what Mancheront, and their debut watch, the Pacer, offers. The chunky diver build of this watch is familiar, but the dial layout and bezel – well, that’s not something we see everyday.
IMHO
The clue is in the name. Besides telling the time, the Pacer is a pulsometer. And while typically this sort of functionality relies on a fixed scale and a stopwatch function, Mancheront have made use of the bi-directional bezel (which has some nice off-set milling on it) by giving it a pulsation scale that, if you swiftly move it to align with the second hand, means you can, after 30 heart beats gets a pulse reading. A niche use case perhaps, but cool. On top of that, the watch offers something novel in the dial layout too. There’s a power reserve at the top and a 24-hour indicator at the bottom which gives this unusual tool watch a special look that’s quite striking. Ticking away inside is a Miyota 9132, which is hidden away behind a solid caseback that has a pleasing petal-like etching on the caseback. The case is nicely sized at 39.5mm, and rated to 100M.
