Oris introduces the Aquis x Bracenet collaboration, a new AquisPro 4000m and expands the Artelier S collection with two new models.

Oris released a couple of divers at Geneva Watch Days, the headliner being the new Aquis in collaboration with Bracenet.

Oris’ partnership with Bracenet marks a significant step towards raising awareness about the harmful impact of ‘ghost’ fishing nets i.e. nets that have been lost or discarded, and promoting sustainable solutions.

Bracenet’s founders, Benjamin Wenke and Madeleine von Hohenthal, encountered the shocking reality of ghost nets during a diving expedition off Tanzania’s coast in 2015. Driven by their deep concern for the environment, they launched Bracenet, first transforming discarded fishing nets into bracelets, and have since evolved to purposeful accessories. In this case, they made their first watch dials. The debut of the Oris x Bracenet collection is a duo of watches that not only exude style but also carry a powerful message of change and responsibility.

The watch itself is an aesthetic piece, for its green dial could pass off as exquisite stone material, but it’s really made from a bunch of fish net offcuts. How they’ve done it is by melting down old fish nets and sliced the hardened matter to reveal a patterned cross-section. They’re then sized down and sanded, leaving them at just 0.3mm thick. Isn’t that creative?

Available in two sizes — 36.5mm and 43.5mm — the stainless steel watches sport uni-directional rotating bezels and are water resistant up to 300m. Yet, Oris made something that could go even deeper…

Oris AquisPro 4000m

Oris’ latest dive watch has made quite a jump, at 4,000m under the sea.

The new AquisPro is all out to withstand the immense pressures of the ocean’s depths, because at 4,000m (equivalent to 400 bar), that’s where one starts to enter The Abyss, or the Abyssopelagic Zone if you want to get into an oceanographer’s state of mind. At that depth, sunlight won’t even go near it, so what’s down there? Along with near-blind fish and shipwrecks, finding an Oris would be a welcome vision… if you could see it.

With a case crafted from titanium, the AquisPro 4000m is equipped with new-found robustness and lightweightedness, which adds to its wearability… despite its hefty case size at 49.5mm. But hey, it’s a 4,000m dive watch we’re talking about here. Speaking of numbers, the caliber in question is the Calibre 400 movement that provides a generous five-day power reserve. Anti-magnetic properties elevate its resilience, while a recommended 10-year service interval underscores the movement’s reliability. Furthermore, Oris’s commitment to quality is underlined by a 10-year warranty offered upon registration to MyOris.

Various tones of blue color the bezel, dial, and strap. The blue gradient dial features an intricate wave pattern, while the blue ceramic bezel insert (that’s equipped with a Rotation Safety System), adopts a baby blue hue to highlight a 15-minute section. The last splashes of blue are on the rubber strap, embossed with the “Oris” name.

Here on dry land, Oris Introduces two newcomers to its Artelier collection. The first is a classic black, while the second is a rich forest green that serves as a subtle homage to the brand’s Swiss heritage nestled within the lush Waldenburg Valley.

Oris’ dress watches offer a polarizing aesthetic from their popular dive watches, and while rightly so, the simplicity is a welcome one. The hour and minute markers placed precisely along the dial’s outer edge provide generous room for the sunray-finished canvas. It’s almost fumé-like, when the light hits all the right spots… perhaps next time?

Housed in smooth and polished 38mm stainless steel cases is the automatic caliber Oris 733. The iconic Red Rotor, Oris’s signature, is visible through the exhibition case back. Both watches are dressed in leather straps, in brown leather for the green dial, and the other in matching black.
