Today, A. Lange & Söhne unveiled a new US-only limited edition, the Saxonia Annual Calendar, which was first introduced in 2010. This new timepiece now comes in white gold with a grey dial, and for the first time in a Saxonia timepiece, the iconic Lange big date features white numbers on a grey background. The balance cock, visible through the sapphire-crystal case back, is hand-engraved, effectively making each piece unique.

Speaking on the matter of the new watch, Anthony de Haas, the director of product development at A. Lange & Söhne says, “We know that collectors love limited editions that are interesting from a technical and design point of view. Of course, such pieces offer the best prospects in small quantities – like our latest boutique edition, the Saxonia Annual Calendar.

“It is powered by the proven self-winding Sax-0-Mat movement, but differs from the standard version in a small but nice detail. We always try to incorporate an element of surprise when releasing timepieces. Therefore, for the first time, we have plated the rotor parts around the embossed A. Lange & Söhne logo in black rhodium and added a circular graining on top to bring back the golden appearance.

“Additionally, the outsize date is realised with white numerals on a grey background to perfectly match the colour of the dial. I think, the new version of the Saxonia Annual Calendar is an elegant and eminently useful companion.”

The Annual Calendar displays the time, date, month, day of the week and moon phases, and only needs to be adjusted once a year when February turns to March. The moon phase only needs to be corrected by one day every 122.6 years.

The automatic Sax-O-Mat movement is equipped with Lange’s patented Zero-Reset function: when you pull the crown, the movement stops and the second hand jumps to the zero position, making it easy to accurately set the time.
