It’s always a good day when something new comes out of Glashütte. So today we consider ourselves doubly blessed when we are treated to not one, but two new offerings from the pre-eminent German manufacture, A. Lange & Söhne.
New Saxonia Outsize Date
First up, there’s a new dial on the Saxonia Outsize Date. This dressy 38.5mm number adds the brand’s iconic big date display to the very traditional gold watch with small seconds, which was first introduced in 2018.
Today is the first time it is offered with an argenté dial, in either a pink or white gold case. Previously offered with a black dial, this brighter offering makes the Saxonia Outsize Date feel a lot more formal, in either metal.
Aside from the new dial offering, it’s business as usual, with the watch still running off the automatic L086.8 movement, which offers 72 hours of power reserve off a single barrel and is finished in the traditional style in German silver with Glashütte ribbing.

New Saxonia Thin
The next new release is something a little more limited, a Saxonia Thin in white gold, boasting a glittering black aventurine dial with a coppery sheen. This watch is limited to 50 pieces, and really is one of those watches you need to see in real life to appreciate, such is the richness and depth of the dial material.
With no complications — not even seconds — to clutter the face of this 40mm watch, the dial truly is the hero. Of course, this is a Saxonia Thin, and at 6.2mm thickness it lives up to its name. That slenderness extends to the manually wound L093.1 movement, a mere 2.9mm tall, but still packing 72 hours of running time into the barrel. The evening-dress aesthetic is amplified with a glossy leather strap.
Both these releases add some versatility to newer members of the A. Lange & Söhne family and are sure to impress in the metal.
