Constant Kwong takes a closer look at Vacheron Constantin’s Métiers d’Art Tribute to Great Civilisations, focusing on the 2026 four-piece chapter created in collaboration with the Louvre Museum.

The collection brings four ancient civilisations to the wrist through Buste d’Akhénaton, Lamassu de Sargon II, Athéna de Velletri and Tibre de l’Iseum Campense. Each watch reinterprets an ancient work from the Louvre through a combination of decorative crafts, including stone carving, marquetry, micro-mosaic, engraving and enamelling.

Across the four pieces, we explore how Vacheron Constantin translates Pharaonic Egypt, the Assyrian Empire, Ancient Greece and Imperial Rome into miniature compositions, with each dial constructed around a central stone figure and surrounding decorative elements.

All four watches are powered by Caliber 2460 G4/2, with hours, minutes, day and date displayed through four apertures around the dial, leaving the centre open for the artistic crafts.
