The Urwerk UR-100V Magic T Hunter Green Perfectly Sums Up The Brand In 2025
At first glance, you could be forgiven for not picking up on the green notes in Urwerk’s latest satellite-powered wonder, the Urwerk UR-100V Magic T Hunter Green, but trust us, it’s there.
Fundamentally, this latest release is an evolution from 2022’s Magic T, part of the brand’s increasingly prominent 100 series — a minimal, sporty and distinctively braceleted take on the famous satellite display. It’s a remarkably wearable watch — measuring 41mm across, just under 50mm from top to bottom and a surprisingly slender 14mm tall, including the domed crystal. It’s a design that plays with tonality and legibility. The addition of the Hunter green elements doesn’t mess with this formula too much — everything under the dome is treated in a muted green. It’s a subtle shade, which is fine, as Urwerk might rightly figure that the complexity of the dial doesn’t need additional gussying up with bright colours. As for the time display, it will be familiar to fans of the brand. The hour is displayed on a rotating module that travels along a 120-degree arc, which also marks the passing minutes. When it snaps back from 60 to zero, the hour displayed in the satellite will have advanced.
A further astronomically themed easter egg sits upon the top of the dial, displays two niche complications — the rotational and orbital distance earth has travelled within a 20-minute interval. Impractical perhaps, but very cool. The whole movement is built off an efficient Vaucher base, and manages to offer the right balance between visual and mechanical virtuosity and every day utility.
It’s this sort of unique approach to horology that has always made Urwerk cool, but recently, the Swiss brand has been seen in the orbit of a whole other type of stardom. At the recent Grammys, Dave Free — manager, producer and creative partner of notable flares-aficionado Kendrick Lamar — was wearing an UR-100V Ultraviolet, a model that’s essentially the vibrant purple version of this shady green number.
In the last few years, we’ve seen a marked shift from Urwerk. The essence of the brand is still full of satellites and the unique time display, but the overall form has being toned down into a sleeker package that feels contemporary and wearable. It would be easy for a brand like Urwerk, with an identity so closely tied to a single concept, to get lost as the tides of taste ebb and flow, but thanks to smart design and a unique premise, watches like the Urwerk UR-100V Magic T Hunter Green ensure that the brand is as relevant today as ever.
