Ulysse Nardin Mega Yacht Moors in Miami

Unveiled at the Miami Yacht Show this morning for the first time in the Americas, the Ulysse Nardin Marine Mega Yacht timepiece was an instant hit.

Held during the Watches & Wonders show in Miami, Ulysse Nardin’s CEO Patrick Pruniaux was proud to unveil the Mega Yacht on a yacht in sunny South Florida.

“There are two reasons we chose to do it here,” Pruniaux explained in an exclusive interview with Revolution.Watch. “The first one is that Ulysse Nardin is a partner of the Miami Yacht Show, which is taking place at the same time as Watches & Wonders. The two together give us the opportunity to celebrate our ability to manufacture haute horlogerie pieces and present them here to customers and the press.

“Ulysse Nardin is already a partner with the leading boat shows in the world (Fort Lauderdale, Monaco and Miami) and the brand is quite well known for being associated with yachts,” he continues. “We will be able to talk to a wider variety of customers at the Yacht Show and at Watches & Wonders. Our experience at the yacht shows is that some customers will already own Ulysse Nardin pieces, while others will come wearing a nice watch, but not yet a Ulysse Nardin. The US is a great place to do this kind of event, as people are more open to new products, and they can get more excited. It’s a lot of fun!”

The Marine Mega Yacht is a limited edition of 30 pieces and comes in a 44mm platinum case. Featuring a flying tourbillon, a realistic 3D moonphase indication (engraved to mimic the Moon’s surface) and a tide height indication, the Marine Mega Yacht gives today’s contemporary seaman everything he needs to know, in a stunning timepiece with nods to mega yachts, including propeller blades on the tourbillon cage. On the grand feu enamel dial, which is set up to look like a ship’s bow, the power reserve is displayed by a sliding scale with an anchor indicating the state of wind – clever and impressive looking.

On the reverse side of the watch, the complicated movement is open to view, similar to the engine room of a ship, through a sapphire crystal caseback.

The Marine Mega Yacht from Ulysse Nardin docked in Miami for its unveiling, but with only 30 pieces available, it is sure to be gone quickly.
