The title of this article says it all. If you recall, earlier this April, Vacheron Constantin wowed us with its elegant Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin with a blue dial on a 18K pink gold bracelet. We knew then that the blue dial pink gold combo was a sure-fire hit. And it returns again, as Vacheron Constantin announces a blue and pink gold version of its Overseas Self-Winding watch at Watches & Wonders Shanghai.
The Overseas Collection, the marque’s sportiest and most versatile collection, has seen a multitude of different colour ways and complications over the years — but surprisingly, a blue dial pink gold version didn’t surface until this year. The addition of this colour way to the self-winding time and date only model is a welcome expansion to the popular collection, and there is no doubt that it is something that clients have long awaited for. The blue lacquered dial is an intense dark blue, but a closer look reveals its multiple finishing: it features a shimmering sunburst satin-brushed centre that compliments the circular satin-finished flange and velvet-finish minute circle. As befitting the sporty model, the gold hour-markers and hands are coated in white luminescent material.
The Overseas Self-Winding model remains unchanged technically, in 41mm, with the same recognisable hexagonal bezel evoking the Maltese cross, and powered by the same Calibre 5100 with an oscillating weight adorned with a wind rose, and water-resistant to 150m. The watch also comes with interchangeable straps in blue rubber and alligator leather, easily swapped out without the need for any tools.
