As epitomised in the 911 Carrera, Porsche makes supremely capable and practical sportscars that show their mettle on the podium, in a classic body design that hasn’t needed much revision in 50 years. The same can be said too, of the TAG Heuer Carrera that has remained largely unchanged in design from its debut in 1963 and also takes its name from what is arguably the most dangerous car race on the planet: the Carrera Panamericana. Tapping into this shared racing heritage of Porsche and TAG Heuer is the new TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing.

It’s not the first collaboration between the two companies; an earlier effort yielded the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph Special Edition in steel case with textured dial and red accents. This time round, the watch is shrouded in black DLC with bright orange accents of the type customarily seen adorning the needle tips of analog dashboard meters. With the minutes and tachymeter markings boldly stamped in high-contrast white, the effect is bold, clear, and high-energy. Great for weekends, yet not too wild for the office: just like the 911, which can be considered a wolf in sheep’s clothing, which we mean in a good way.

Driving the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing is the in-house Calibre Heuer 02 that ticks all the right boxes in a chronograph, including crisp activation from a column wheel, non-slip vertical clutch, and a generous power reserve of 80 hours. The movement can be seen through the crystal caseback, with column wheel proudly marked in orange.

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x Porsche Orange Racing is available from February 2023.
