Share

Deeply steeped in tradition, Audemars Piguet has all the credibility it needs to push the boundaries of authentic, modern watchmaking. At SIHH, this was what the manufacture pursued, notably in gold watches, jewellery watches and fundamental re-engineering. Some highlights…

After last year’s Diamond Punk, Audemars Piguet follows up with Diamond Fury, a fearsome beast which it describes as a carapace of gems. It took 1,500 hours and 4,635 brilliant-cut diamonds to produce.

Quartz movement, white gold case and bracelet entirely set with diamonds (26.14ct including those on the dial), blackened gold hands.

Last year’s Royal Oak Concept RD#1 which scaled new heights in acoustic performance was eight years in the making. This year’s Supersonnerie is the watch translated from concept to reality, offering full, bright tone that transcends former limits imposed by such factors as waterproofing. New case technology and movement design has been developed to prevent sound absorption, eliminate noise and boost amplification, modelled after the workings of a guitar.

Manual-wind minute repeater movement with tourbillon and chronograph, 42-hour power reserve. 44mm titanium case water resistant to 20m.

The Royal Oak’s defining moment was as a luxury watch in stainless steel. Still, it looks at least as wonderful basking in the warm glow of yellow gold, in either blue of silvered dials. Models include perpetual calendar, chronograph, automatic and quartz models.

A world’s-first, not one but a pair of balance wheels and balance springs are affixed on the same axis to achieve greater stability, consistency and hence precision in the beating of the movement’s regulator.
