Panerai Returns to Its Core Territory for Watches and Wonders 2026

For Watches and Wonders 2026, Panerai returns to the ideas that have always defined it best: underwater utility, military-rooted design, material experimentation and long-running movements. The brand sharpens its identity through a line-up that feels grounded in purpose, with the Luminor’s historic case language revisited across several references while technical development continues in two areas long associated with Panerai: materials and power reserve.

The clearest headline is the new Luminor 31 Giorni PAM01631, which pushes the brand’s long-running interest in autonomy to a new level with a hand-wound calibre capable of running for a full month on a single wind. The rest of the collection broadens in different ways, from a forged titanium Luminor and an Afniotech Submersible built for extreme conditions to a group of heritage-driven Luminor models that revisit the 1960s through Destro construction, tropical dials and the return of the 8 Giorni concept.

The Luminor 31 Giorni PAM01631 turns one of the brand’s most familiar strengths into its most ambitious statement this year. Housed in a 44 mm Goldtech case and limited to 200 pieces, it introduces the new hand-wound skeletonised P.2031/S calibre, developed over seven years to deliver a 31-day power reserve from four barrels in series. The appeal here is not just the headline number, but the seriousness of the movement behind it. It is a full rethink of long-duration performance, backed by patented solutions including a torque limiter, a spring geometry system and a jumping hour function. It is a watch that extends a line running from the historic Angelus 8-day movements through Panerai’s own long-power calibres, while giving that legacy its most technically ambitious form to date.

Panerai Submersible GMT Navy SEALs Afniotech Experience Edition PAM01089

Panerai Submersible GMT Navy SEALs Afniotech Experience Edition PAM01089

The most aggressive watch in the line-up is the Submersible GMT Navy SEALs Afniotech Experience Edition PAM01089, a 47 mm dive watch built around one of the collection’s most unusual material stories. Its case debuts Afniotech, which Panerai describes as a metal made up of more than 95 per cent hafnium and used here for the first time in watchmaking. This experimental direction is matched by the rest of the watch, which is built for serious underwater capability with 100 bar water resistance, a reinforced case architecture and a highly legible display that uses different luminous colours to separate key dive information. Inside is the automatic P.9010/GMT calibre with a three-day power reserve and second time zone function. Limited to 35 pieces and tied to a Navy SEALs experience in Florida, it is clearly a niche proposition, but it also shows Panerai at its most uncompromising.

Panerai Luminor PAM01629 Forged Titanium

The Luminor PAM01629 introduces forged titanium to the collection for the first time, bringing the material into a 100-piece limited edition. The 47 mm case keeps the broad, recognisable shape of the historic Luminor, but the material gives it a different visual rhythm, with wave-like layers across the surface that make each watch slightly distinct. Paired with an anthracite sun-brushed dial and beige lume, it still speaks the same Panerai language of legibility, mass and military-adjacent restraint. Visible through the caseback, the hand-wound P.3000 calibre reinforces that connection to Panerai’s more traditional mechanical language, with its large bridges and three-day power reserve echoing the architecture of the brand’s historic movements.

Panerai Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733

Panerai Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733

The Luminor 8 Giorni PAM01733 is one of the most coherent watches in the collection because it reconnects so directly with one of Panerai’s most important functional themes. Its eight-day power reserve recalls the Angelus SF240 movements once used in Panerai watches for military divers, where long autonomy served a practical purpose. Here, that legacy is carried by the hand-wound P.5000 calibre inside a 44 mm Brunito steel case, whose hand-worked finish gives each example a slightly different aged appearance. The anthracite sandwich dial adds further texture through a circular brushed finish, but the watch never loses the directness expected of a Panerai.

Panerai Luminor PAM01735

Panerai Luminor PAM01735

Panerai Luminor PAM01735

The Luminor PAM01735 is the most overtly vintage-minded piece in the new line-up, revisiting early Luminor design codes in a full 47 mm case that stays close to the proportions of the historic reference 6152/1. Its main draw is the tropical dial, which takes inspiration from older Panerai watches whose black dials gradually shifted to warmer tones over time. Here, that effect appears as an ivory matte sandwich dial with a brown gradient, giving the watch a warm, gently aged character without turning it into a strict reissue. Together with the domed crystal, polished steel bezel and hand-wound P.3000 calibre visible through the caseback, the result is a watch that speaks clearly to collectors drawn to Panerai’s vintage side.

Panerai Luminor Destro PAM01732

Panerai Luminor Destro PAM01732

Panerai Luminor Destro PAM01732

The Luminor Destro PAM01732 revives one of the brand’s most distinctive historical formats, bringing back the left-sided crown-protecting bridge originally designed so military divers could wear the watch on the right wrist while keeping their dominant hand free for other instruments. In this version, Panerai translates the configuration into a contemporary 44 mm case and pairs it with a matte blue sandwich dial, described as a first for a Luminor Destro. With its clean display, hand-wound P.6000 calibre and mix of vintage leather and blue rubber straps, the watch preserves the slightly unconventional character that has always made the Destro format stand apart.

Panerai Luminor PAM01731

Panerai Luminor PAM01731

Panerai Luminor PAM01731

The Luminor PAM01731 is perhaps the most straightforward expression of Panerai’s 1960s design language in this year’s collection. Sized at 44 mm, it revisits the historic 6152/1-inspired architecture through the familiar combination of cushion case, crown-protecting bridge, domed crystal, sandwich dial and small seconds at 9 o’clock. Its tobacco dial gives it a slightly richer, more period-inflected tone, while the hand-wound P.6000 calibre keeps the watch close to Panerai’s longstanding preference for robust manual movements in its simpler tool-watch expressions. With 30 bar water resistance, it is not merely a heritage exercise, but a clear and accessible reminder of what the Luminor still does well.
