As it has become customary now, Patek Philippe is announcing several special creations for their 2019 Grand Exhibition.

The collection of timepieces includes three dome table clocks, twelve pocket watches, eight rare handcraft dial, one hand-engraved case ref. 5160 perpetual calendar wristwatch with retrograde, a ref. 7000 ladies’ minute repeater with cloisonné enamel dial and three cloisonné enamel and guilloche table clocks.

But, of course, the talk of the town will no doubt be the five production refences that Patek will issue in limited numbers on the occasion of the 2019 Patek Philippe Watch Art Grand Exhibition. These timepieces are as follows.

Ref. 5531 – World Time Minute Repeater

First created for the 2017 Patek Philippe exhibition in New York, the reference 5531 was later introduced as a production piece at Baselworld 2018. For the 2019 Grand Exhibition the timepiece features a cloisonné enamel dial depicting Singapore’s bustling downtown bay locale.

Further refence to the city state is made on the city ring of the world time mechanism, where Singapore is listed instead of the usual Beijing.

The 5531 is powered by the self-winding caliber R 27 HU, which features Patek’s patented repeater mechanism that chimes out the time of the city at the 12 o’clock position of the world time mechanism. Other innovations included in the caliber are the two gongs of the repeater that are attached directly to the case band structure rather than the classical method of mounting them on the baseplate. This allows for better resonance for the chime.

All of this is contained within a 40.2mm rose-gold case with decorative lugs. Turning the watch to its side, reveals the hobnail pattern that is hand guilloched onto the caseband and repeater slide. The will be produced with a sapphire and interchangeable solid caseback, both of which are decorated with the inscription “PATEK PHILIPPE SINGAPORE 2019”.

The reference 5531 – World Time Minute Repeater Singapore 2019 Special Edition will be produced in a run of just five pieces.

Ref. 5930 – World Time Chronograph

Number two on the list is a variation of the 5930 World Time Chronograph with a smoked red, hand-guilloched dial and a white and red for the minute/seconds scale.

The reference 5930 was a 2016 Baselworld novelty that combined Patek’s knowhow in the flyback chronograph with their superior grasp of the world time mechanism.

For the special variation for the 2019 Watch Art Grand Exhibition, Patek has reproduced the timepiece with Singapore (instead of Beijing) to represent GMT +8 on the world time mechanism’s city ring. Otherwise the timepiece remains true with the caliber CH 28-520 HU powering the aforementioned mega-complications.

Created as a 39.5 mm white gold piece, the timepiece will feature a sapphire caseback with the inscription PATEK ”PHILIPPE SINGAPORE 2019”, which will be made in a limited run of 300 watches.

Ref. 7234 – Calatrava Pilot Travel Time

The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time, when it was first launched at Baselworld 2015, it was introduced to the world as the 42 mm white gold reference 5524. Later, ahead of Baselworld 2018, Patek gave us a diminutive variation of the timepiece, the reference 7234 in rose gold.

As the watch’s name suggests, the Calatrava Pilot Travel Time has a dual time zone mechanism to indicate local and home time. Local and home time are further aided by the day/night indication in apertures. Local date on the timepiece is indicated using the sub dial at 6 o’clock.

Now, for the occasion of the 2019 Watch Art Grand Exhibition, Patek has created a variation of the 7234, in stainless steel featuring a blue-gray dial.

The watch is paired with an embossed blue calfskin strap and has a sapphire caseback with the inscription “PATEK PHILIPPE SINGAPORE 2019”. Limitation on this piece is 400.

Ref. 5167 – Aquanaut

This one’s a fairly straight forward one. This is the robust 40.8 mm stainless steel aquanaut with red minute markers and the central seconds hand. The color red is also used on the composite material strap made for the special watch.

The watch is powered by the caliber 324 S C, which is visible through a sapphire caseback with the inscription “PATEK PHILIPPE SINGAPORE 2019”.

The Singapore 2019 Special Edition reference. 5167 will be limited to 500 pieces.

Ref. 5067 – Aquanaut Luce

The 5067 is a watch that Patek has already expressed in several colors and here, for the occasion, Patek has chosen to continue on with the color theme, dressing the Aquanaut Luce in red.

The 35.6 mm timepiece is presented here in stainless steel, adorned with 46 diamonds on its bezel.

The 300 piece limited edition timepiece will feature a solid caseback with the inscription “PATEK PHILIPPE SINGAPORE 2019”.
