The Best Sinn Bundeswehr Ever

The Sinn 155S Revolution II Bright Star TEGIMENT® is now available for purchase via the link below.

Priced at USD 3,600 and made in a limited edition of 300 pieces, our ultra-modern take on Bundeswehr chronograph brings the classic pilot’s watch back in black and better than ever. Here’s why:

It uses an all-new steel alloy of a higher grade than ever used in a Bundeswehr case with much higher impact and corrosion resistance.

[vc_column_inner width=”5/6″]

It features a fully TEGIMENT® treated steel case, bezel, crown, pushers and caseback. Sinn’s proprietary heat treatment elevates the surface hardness of stainless steel (904L) fivefold.

Every part of this watch receives Sinn’s Black Hard Coating. Because of the incredible hardness of the steel underneath, this coating has excellent adhesion, creating a virtually bulletproof watch.

It uses an all-new case construction with a screw-down caseback for greater robustness. The previous model featured a sliding case, retained by four screws on the caseback. This meant that all-new tooling was created just for this watch.

The crystal is now sapphire and not acrylic. The sapphire crystal is exactly the same shape and radius as the vintage plastic crystal.

The watch uses the first “Captive Safety Bezel” in a Bundeswehr. Previous models had aluminum bezels that could be popped off with a knife. This watch features a steel bezel that is fixed in place with three screws integrated into the case.

It is the first modern Sinn Bundeswehr to feature the correct sword-shaped hands from the original watch.

ABOUT SINN BUNDESWEHR

Created in 1967 for the West German Federal Defence Force pilots patrolling the border with the USSR, the Bundeswehr Chronograph is an icon of pragmatic, utilitarian badassness. It is characterized by a 43mm case, a matte black dial with huge luminescent Arabic indexes, sword-shaped hands, a “Concorde” shaped tip for the chronograph sweep seconds hand, and a bidirectional rotating bezel. It is fitted on a double-layer “Bund” strap created to protect pilots from the extremes of heat and cold in the cockpit — a style popularized by Hollywood icons like Paul Newman with his 6239 Daytona and Steve McQueen with his 417 ES Hanhart chronograph in the 1970s.

Watches designated the 1550 were made by Leonidas, then Heuer. In the early ’80s, founder Helmet Sinn purchased all the decommissioned watches and re-badged them as Sinn 155 Bundeswehr watches. Today, all three versions are highly collectible.

There have been a total of just four modern Bundeswehr editions created by Sinn: a 200-piece edition made for Japan in 2005; a 272-piece edition made for the German retailer Manufactum in 2008; a 150-piece limited edition named the “Dark Star” made for Revolution in 2019.

The generously sized 43mm case gives off an understated yet distinct wrist presence

THE BRIGHT STAR

For 2024, we are proud to announce the creation of the most faithful Sinn Bundeswehr yet, replete with the original style sword-shaped hands, but now featuring a fully TEGIMENT® treated steel blacked-out design. The watch is nicknamed the “Bright Star” for the star logo of Revolution magazine rendered in black Super-LumiNova at six o’clock.

The Sinn 155 S Revolution II Bright Star TEGIMENT® is made in a 300-piece limited edition. Priced at USD 3,600, it comes with both a leather Bund-style strap and a black nylon NATO strap.
