At Geneva Watch Days 2026, Laurent Ferrier unveils one of the most beautiful pieces at the fair, the Classic Moon Dusk. The annual calendar and moon phase watch is no stranger to fans of the brand, with previous iterations featuring more traditional colours such as white and blue. Now, however, the watchmaker has given it a particularly appealing new look, with a tone-on-tone golden-brown gradient dial paired with a yellow gold case.

An elaborate take on the moon phase

The Classic Moon, regardless of the palette, is an easily likeable watch. Its layout, with twin day and date windows at 12 o’clock and a moon phase at six, is familiar to lovers of vintage triple-calendar watches.

That also makes it harder for a modern watch with this format to stand out. Laurent Ferrier does so with its beautiful pebble-shaped case, which remains quite unique in the market, along with a finely hand-finished movement on the back.

As classical as Laurent Ferrier can be, the brand has also loosened up over the past couple of years, ever since it started making sports watches, experimenting with more interesting colour combinations. This piece, for example, looks back to the bygone era of yellow gold watches paired with champagne dials for a tone-on-tone look. It may be a little too old-school for today, but the gradient dial gives the combination a fresh twist.

All three together

The gradient is the key. The dial starts with a light sand colour at the centre, darkening towards the edge into golden brown. When this warm tone meets the yellow gold case, the result is simply stunning.

But that is not where the creativity ends. The true highlight of the watch is the moon phase, as hinted by its name. It starts with a piece of brown-grey gold sheen obsidian, engraved with stars and a moon, before being painted with luminescent material to create a remarkably realistic effect that comes alive in the dark.

Above the disc sits a pair of rotating circles that indicate the moon phase. These translucent discs are made using plique-à-jour enamel, a technique in which the enamel is held within a frame without a base. This leaves the enamel completely transparent from our view, with the supporting frame hidden beneath the main dial.

Elegant in a distinctly modern way

Classic hand-wound movement

Inside the watch is the LF126.02, the brand’s minimalist take on a hand-wound movement. Its layout is rather simple compared with Laurent Ferrier’s signature micro-rotor automatic, but it is still a good-looking movement, with multiple large and small bridges reminiscent of vintage movements, particularly the elongated winding click.

A surprise element is the subtle power reserve indicator just above the balance wheel, showing the movement’s healthy 80-hour running time. This is not found on the time-only Classic Origin, the entry-level model that uses the same base movement.

As expected from Laurent Ferrier, the movement is beautifully finished, with large, rounded bevels along the edges of the bridges. There is even an interior angle on the tiny independent bridge holding the escape wheel.
