Jaeger-LeCoultre In The Making

Share

A maison synonymous with haute horlogerie and dedicated to the preservation of métiers d’art, Jaeger-LeCoultre recently rolled out a certified pre-owned program called The Collectibles together with an accompanying book. This program restores and certifies rare and historic Jaeger-LeCoultre watches, which are presented to clients in box sets that each comprise an extract from the Jaeger-LeCoultre archives, a new watch strap and box, a two-year warranty, a complimentary copy of The Collectibles book, and if available, that watch’s original box, papers, and strap or bracelet.
La Grande Maison continually places great emphasis on the Reverso, a timeless icon whose dual faces have been used to showcase the brand’s unrivalled finesse with complicated watchmaking, along with a myriad of painstaking decorative art forms like enameling, micro painting and engraving. As many of you connoisseurs are aware, the vintage watches and historic clocks of this Le Sentier brand too are highly sought after.

In this spirit of highlighting and celebrating watch art, Jaeger-LeCoultre partnered with Spanish typographer, illustrator and artist Alex Trochut last year to create the 1931 Alphabet, an Art Deco-style typeface that is unique to Jaeger-LeCoultre and has been incorporated into the design language of its timepieces and boutiques.

Films about watch art

Now, Jaeger-LeCoultre has launched a series of short films that shed light on its mastery of watchmaking’s many traditional techniques.

180 different watchmaking crafts, to be precise, are showcased in In The Making, a captivating video series that can be watched here. In The Making currently comprises eight films that shine the spotlight on eight crafts, and this series will be gradually expanded into a comprehensive library. The first eight films are Design: aesthetics and style; Research & Development; Polishing; Restoration; Bevelling; Enamelling, Engraving; and Gem-setting.

Fans of fine watchmaking will love In The Making, which lets viewers enjoy an in-depth look at how 190-year-old Jaeger-LeCoultre has mastered these decorative techniques and integrated these competencies under one roof in its manufacture, located in the storied Swiss watchmaking region of Vallée de Joux.

Discover the savoir faire and attention to detail poured into each Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece, one craft at a time. Each video zooms in on a specific craft and is narrated by the feelings and thought process of each artisan. These expert craftsmen hone their skills for years, before executing them on Jaeger-LeCoultre timepieces and passing them on to the next generation of artisans.

This video series corresponds to the sequence of creating a finely made timepiece: Design, Produce, Finish and Ornament.
