The True Thinline collection stands out as the most extreme representation of Rado’s ultimate materials and craftsmanship expertise, but now mixed with a dose of technical playfulness. First shown in 2011, these all-ceramic watches opened a new chapter in the Rado “Book of Creativity” by means of some very thin and arresting timepieces, created for the fashion-conscious entity that —let’s accept it— lives inside so many of us. And Rado knows it well. That’s why its calling card is something that very well may be thought of as “high-tech design”.

Since their introduction, however, the Thinline watches have been available with both quartz calibers and self-winding mechanisms, demonstrating that Rado takes seriously its role as a watchmaker who knows and understands how to combine classic horological values with stylistic innovation. These timepieces, as attractive as they are affordable, became the most visible ultra-thin mechanical proposal from the house of Lengnau. With lightness, scratch resistance and wearer comfort guaranteed, they will surely stand the test of time.

Today, the new execution of the Thinline bares its soul for you and me, in the form of the True Thinline Anima —“anima” means soul in Latin—, a skeletonized watch that preserves the original slim proportions of the Thinline, anchored by the monoblock ceramic case now shown in a new matt olive green hue, unprecedented within the brand.

The eye-catching case of the True Thinline Anima remains at 40 mm in diameter and rises 10.8 millimeters. The lightness of the watch is magnified by the transparent dial, through which the bridges and the plates of the movement, made of anodized aluminium, can be seen. In a slick design trick, the date function (down at 6 o’clock) is highlighted by the visible calendar wheel. Around the dial, a green flange frames the whole, highlighted by the applied rhodium indices, the carbon-fiber structure, the printed logos and —of course— the rotating anchor that accompanies every mechanical Rado. Inside beats the ETA A31.L02 caliber, a corporate workhorse of the Swatch Group with 64 hours of autonomy whose robustness and reliability is confirmed by the skeletonization. The open caseback reveals the cool black-DLC finishing of the bridges and rotor.

The Rado TRUE Thinline Anima is presented on a ceramic bracelet that is accompanied by a titanium folding clasp, beautifully finished in the same olive-green color as the case. This soulful edition is limited to only 2,020 timepieces, each of which is engraved “LIMITED EDITION ONE OUT OF 2020”. This is an appropriate signature that remind us of the watch’s technical and emotional flair.
