Ming is a brand that’s never been afraid of teaming up and sharing expertise. This should come as no surprise given that they’re one of the founding members of the Alternative Horological Alliance, and recently dropped a very tasty collab with J.N. Shapiro. This time around, Ming is teaming up with a prestigious name outside of the watch space, and the results are surprising and special. Meet the Ming 37.06 Royal Selangor.

Royal Selangor is a name you’ve likely heard, but may not be fully across. They’re an historic pewterware maker, dating back to 1885, and based in Kuala Lumpur — a nation rich in tin. Made famous for quality pewter returning to Europe in the days of empire. Today the business still creates traditional pewter, as well as more contemporary designs and custom objects. This partnership with Ming manages to combine all three aspects.

Limited to 88 pieces, the MING 37.06 Royal Selangor features a hammered pewter dial, made by Royal Selangor, with MING’s 37-series case in grade-2 titanium, finished with an all-brushed surface.

Dial aside, the dimensions are familiar. At 38mm in diameter, just over 11mm thick, and with a head weight of 35.9 grams, this watch is Ming at its most versatile, especially once you factor in the 100 metres of water resistance.

Unsurprisingly though, it’s all about the dial. Pewter, a tin-based alloy, is an uncommon material in watchmaking — but the warm tones and depth work surprisingly well, especially when you factor in the fine hammered finish. Pewter does not tarnish or corrode, but will develop a soft patina over time. The partnership is reinforced via a caseback that is engraved with the MING and Royal Selangor marks, and the movement is a Sellita for MING SW300.M1, an automatic calibre measuring 25.6mm in diameter and 3.6mm thick, with roughly 50 hours of power reserve, and some pretty open-worked and rhodium-plated finishes.

Another nice touch is the fact that the watch is presented in a hammered pewter box designed by MING and made by Royal Selangor. And, as is appropriate for two KL-based brands, the full production run is assembled in Kuala Lumpur, marking the first time MING has handled final assembly locally for a collaboration. The watch is available through Royal Selangor boutiques, with limited stock available on Ming’s website from the 6th of August.

The pewter itself is a tin-based alloy — Royal Selangor’s cast pewter is close to 97 per cent tin, strengthened with copper and antimony — produced through a largely manual process of casting, filing, polishing, and finishing. The watch ships on a blue-grey goat leather strap made by Jean Rousseau, fitted with curved quick-release spring bars and a flying-blade tuck buckle with micro-adjustment, and is presented in a hammered pewter box designed by MING and made by Royal Selangor.

Notably, the full production run is assembled in Kuala Lumpur, marking the first time MING has handled final assembly locally for a collaboration. The watch is priced at CHF 5,000 excluding taxes, carries a two-year limited mechanical warranty, and becomes available through Royal Selangor boutiques on 30 July 2026, with limited stock following on Ming’s website from 6 August 2026.
