The Low-Down

When you see a watch with a vibrant coloured dial, its likely to either sing at you or be a little too much. And the best way to deal with this? Make the dial in number of different colours so as to appeal to a wider range of potential customers. Personally, I love an eye-catching shade in pretty much all hues. There is something pleasant to my eye about a pop of colour on my wrist, with blue and red being favourites. Bell & Ross released the Diver Bronze in 2018 in play-it-safe black configuration. In 2019 it followed it up with a green dial and bezel combo and then it was the turn of classic blue in 2020. And now it’s turned red and, wanting to spare its blushes, it’s a real looker!

The lacquered red dial of the new Bell & Ross Diver is teamed up with an anodized aluminium bezel and is offered on a red-brown leather strap or a black rubber strap for occasions when one wishes to get the watch wet.

The watch is powered by Calibre BR-CAL302 automatic movement.

IMHO

The case and bezel is made from a satin brushed bronze alloy that comprises 92 percent copper and 8 percent tin. Bronze has always been extensively used in maritime applications thanks to its non-corrosive properties and ability to be machined. It has been used for ship propellers and deep-sea diving helmets amongst other things and is a logical choice for a diving watch. The lacquered red dial is teamed up with an anodized aluminium bezel and the whole rouge-vibe is finished with a red-brown leather strap. The watch is also supplied with a black rubber strap for those occasions when one wishes to get the watch wet!

On the subject of getting it wet, you really can take this watch down on a dive thanks to its waterproofness of 300 metres. And seeing this watch at any depth won’t be a problem courtesy of Super-Luminova adorned hour markers and hands. The 42mm case is in the signature square shape with four screws in each corner.
