Chopard presents the Alpine Eagle Sunburnt Limited Edition

Chopard pays homage to Australia’s rich cultural tapestry that seamlessly marries Swiss watchmaking expertise with the vibrant hues of the Australian landscape.
Emerging prominently from the vast expanse of the Central Australian desert, the massive red formation of Uluru stands as a prominent symbol of Australia. The striking red landscape adds to the area’s allure; the earthy tones of the desert, ranging from deep reds to ochre, paint a mesmerizing picture that stretches as far as the eye can see.

This very picture inspired Chopard’s latest limited edition, and aptly named, the Alpine Eagle Sunburnt Limited Edition.

Crafted in collaboration with renowned artist Shaun Daniel Allen (Shal), this special timepiece boasts a distinct “Sunburnt Red” dial, inspired by the ochre hues of Australia’s soil. It’s a departure from the collection’s usual Alpine references that introduces a gradient effect that darkens around the edges, mirroring the play of light and shadow on the Australian landscape.

To infuse the Alpine Eagle Sunburnt Limited Edition with artistic flair, Chopard collaborated with First Nations artist Shaun Daniel Allen, known as Shal. Renowned for his innovative blend of contemporary art, tattooing, and music, Shal’s textured and vibrant style is evident in the artistic details of the watch.

The timepiece’s caseback is adorned with Shal’s emblematic abstract motifs, while the sustainable wooden case, hand-painted with tranquil lines evoking river courses, adds an extra layer of artistic charm. This collaboration transforms the watch into a collector’s item, seamlessly bridging the worlds of traditional watchmaking and contemporary art.

In a philanthropic gesture, a portion of the proceeds from the Alpine Eagle Sunburnt Limited Edition will be donated to the Ngunya Jarjum Aboriginal Corporation. This organization, founded in 1995, focuses on addressing the need for more Aboriginal kinship and foster carers, especially after the 2022 eastern Australia flood disasters.

Shal, deeply moved by Ngunya Jarjum’s impact on the Bundjalung community, stated, “Children are our future! Seeing Ngunya Jarjum suffer from the floods and knowing how much they do for the community on Bundjalung country was heartbreaking.”

Chopard’s environmental responsibility and innovation

In line with Chopard’s commitment to responsible sourcing, the 41mm case and bracelet are crafted entirely from Lucent Steel™, a material exclusive to Chopard made from at least 80 percent recycled material. Not only does Lucent Steel exhibit anti-allergenic properties comparable to surgical steel, but it is also 50 percent more resistant to abrasion than conventional steels.
Additionally, its unique hardness and crystal structure contribute to shimmering light effects.

The heart of the Alpine Eagle Sunburnt Limited Edition is powered by the Chopard 01.01-C self-winding COSC-certified movement. It provides up to 60 hours of power reserve and a stop-second function for precise time-setting.

The textured dial, reminiscent of an eagle’s eye, features rhodium-plated hour-markers and hands, illuminated with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova® for optimal visibility.
