At just 48 grams including its strap, the Venezianico Redentore Levius is ridiculously light for a mechanical dress watch. Its grade 5 titanium construction keeps its physical presence on the wrist to a minimum, while the intricately engraved dial fills the gap when it comes to visual depth.

As of late, titanium has become a very familiar choice in sports and tool watches, available in vastly different price points, yet remains quite an outlier among traditionally proportioned dress watches. It’s also a demanding material to finish, especially when the goal is to create crisp, reflective surfaces meant for elegant cases.

Venezianico uses Grade 5 titanium for the case, bezel and buckle, alternating brushed and polished surfaces to keep within the formality of the Redentore line. The case alone weighs just 12.9 grams, while its dimensions remain compact at 38mm across, 44.2mm from lug to lug and 8.9mm thick.

The dial, though, is where the party is at. Named after Zephyrus, the gentle west wind of Greek mythology, the Zefiro pattern is cut by Linda Renzetti on an 1850s rose engine. Renzetti represents the fourth generation of her family’s guilloché workshop, Atelier Renzetti, which is among the few still practicing the craft using antique, manually operated machinery.

The pattern extends uninterrupted throughout the whole dial, without any chapter rings or blank sections found on many traditional guilloché dials. Its irregular lines radiate outwards in overlapping currents, catching light differently according to the viewing angle. Time is told through double-faceted alpha minute and hour hands that feature a combination of polished and sandblasted finishes, providing a necessary contrast against its active background.

Powering the watch is the hand-wound V5000, the brand’s proprietary movement manufactured in Italy by OISA and developed by Italian watch movement designer Fausto Berizzi and Venezianico’s technical director Andrea Menegazzo. The caliber includes a free-sprung copper-beryllium balance supplied by Atokalpa, a double-supported balance bridge, a KIF Elastor shock protection, and offers 60 hours of autonomy with an impressive accuracy of +/- 3 seconds per day.

Visible through the sapphire caseback, the four-bridge movement is decorated with radial Côtes de Genève, polished anglage and hand-applied micro-perlage.

The Venezianico Redentore Levius is priced at €4,750 and will be offered through a timed pre-order. The first 100 watches will be individually numbered.
