Introducing the Bell & Ross 05 Skeleton Gold and DiamondBy Bhanu Chopra
The Low Down
Since introducing the BR 01 years ago, Bell & Ross have been focused on capturing and perfecting the contemporary watch. With the release of the BR 05 Skeleton Gold and the BR 05 Diamond, they believe they have made their best attempt yet.
The BR 05 keeps the distinctive look and feel of the BR 01, maintaining the square case, round dial, and one screw in each corner, but the BR 05 adds a distinct look of its own. The watch has an integrated bracelet that fuses with the case to create a unified piece.
The ‘BR 05 Skeleton Gold’ is completely dressed in rose gold, further enhancing the complete and modern aesthetic of the integrated bracelet. The watch is composed of 99 pieces, and totals 155 grams of gold. The open dial on the watch features a rose gold gilded appliqué which forms a clear window through which the rose gold plated skeleton movement can be seen. The watch is also equipped with a BR-CAL.322 mechanism wound by 360° rose gold-plated oscillating weight. It is a 40 mm geometric watch and can be equipped with a rose gold bracelet or a black rubber strap. All the rose gold mentioned is 18 ct.
The ‘BR 05 Diamond’ is a bold statement on the sleek BR 05 look. The case is satin-finished and polished steel set with 172 diamonds with a total weight of .88 ct. These diamonds create an undeniable elegance and powerful look atop the simple intuitive design, standing out sharp against the black sunray dial. The dial also contains 11 diamond indices with a total weight of .08 ct. The BR 05 Diamond is a 40 mm geometric watch and is equipped with a BR-CAL.321 mechanism. It can be worn with a black rubber, stain-polished steel, or satin-polished-steel with center links strap. The center-link strap is set with 218 diamonds with a total weight of 2.84 ct.
The BR 05 watch design has a refined aesthetic and is striking on the wrist. Both of these watches build off that strong foundation to create a bold statement. The ‘BR 05 Diamond’ looks sleek and refined, especially with the center link strap, but it is slightly overshadowed by the unbelievable aesthetic of the ‘BR 05 Skeleton Gold.’ The Skeleton Gold is a one heck of a statement watch and can be blinding from every angle, and the rose gold strap is a must to complete the All Gold look. In short, the ‘BR 05 Skeleton Gold’ is a watch I would be looking to get my hands on.
