Wei Koh and Constant Kwong revisit one of Audemars Piguet’s most disruptive modern icons: the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph.

Introduced in 1993 and nicknamed “The Beast,” the Royal Oak Offshore took the design language of the Royal Oak and pushed it into a larger, louder and more muscular form. In this video, Wei and Constant look back at the Offshore’s origins, its oversized proportions, rubber-clad details, material experimentation and its role in shaping a new kind of high-luxury sports watch.

The conversation moves from the original Offshore to later references, including blacked-out editions, rubber-clad models, titanium, forged carbon and pop culture collaborations, before arriving at the latest 42mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph models.

Powered by Audemars Piguet’s integrated flyback chronograph Calibre 4404, the new 42mm executions bring the Offshore’s original attitude into a more contemporary format, with updated movement architecture, sapphire caseback, interchangeable straps and bold colour accents.

For Wei and Constant, the Offshore remains one of the clearest examples of how Audemars Piguet can honour its own history while still pushing the collection forward.
