ArtyA Complexity Métiers d’Art: Double Cônillon Tourbillons with Yvan and Stan Arpa

Two inclined Cônillon tourbillons, a central differential and a sapphire case that reveals the movement from almost every angle. The ArtyA Complexity was already an extraordinary piece of watchmaking when it debuted at Watches & Wonders 2026. Now, the Complexity Métiers d’Art takes that architecture further through traditional hand finishing. In Geneva, Constant Kwong sits down with ArtyA founder Yvan Arpa and his son Stan to explore the evolution of the Complexity and the ideas shaping the next generation of this independent, family-run watchmaker. The Complexity Métiers d’Art retains the two inclined Cônillon tourbillons positioned at 12 and six o’clock, each completing a rotation every 30 seconds. A differential links the two regulators, distributing energy between them and mechanically averaging their rates. The watch is housed in a sculptural sapphire case with two optical domes that provide an unobstructed view of the regulators in motion. For this new edition, ArtyA has reworked the dial and movement with hand engraving, hammering, shot blasting, perlage and hand-polished bevels. Constant examines the depth and contrast created by these finishes, the technical considerations behind the double Cônillon architecture and the extraordinary work required to bring the entire watch together. The conversation then turns to the 35mm Luminity Wavy Micro-Rotor AMR-01, which houses an automatic micro-rotor movement with an 82-hour power reserve. Constant also explores ArtyA’s approach to personalisation through interchangeable coloured O-rings in its sapphire cases, an idea that gives owners another way to change the character of their watches. From an ambitious double-tourbillon complication to smaller, more wearable creations and new approaches to personalisation, Constant, Yvan and Stan discuss how ArtyA continues to evolve while retaining its distinctive approach to independent watchmaking.
