Audemars Piguet Creates Unique Royal Oak Chronograph for One Drop Foundation
Cirque du Soleil stands as a household name today. However, few are aware that the circus house, best known for its death-defying storytelling on stage, is also behind a rather special organization called One Drop.
One Drop was established by Cirque du Soleil’s founder, Guy Laliberté in 2007. Its purpose: to work towards creating a sustainable manner in which to provide clean water and sanitation to the most vulnerable corners of the planet. The organization uses several partnerships and the arts as a platform to gather funds with which to further its purpose.
One Drop takes pride in its innovative fundraising initiatives, which it embarks on with its partners right there, every step of the way. These initiatives are so well received that Charity Intelligence recognized One Drop as one of the 2018 Top 10 Impact Charities in Canada.
In 2019 One Drop will present its seventh fundraising event imagined by Cirque du Soleil “One Night for One Drop” at the “O” Theatre at Bellagio Resort & Casino on Friday, March 8, 2019. The evening will feature a stellar lineup of star-studded performances from the likes of Academy Award-winner and world-renowned score composer Hans Zimmer along with an auction of six drool-worthy lots.
The auction lineup starts with a specially produced McLaren 570S Spider sports-car in Muriwai White, dubbed the “2019 One Night for One Drop 1 of 1”. We’ll come back to lot 2, but lot 3 is a roundtrip to the COMO Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands on board a Bombardier Challenger 350 private jet.
Lot 4 is a safari-living experience at the private five-star estate just a stone’s throw away from the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Lot 5 is a Saint Tropez getaway, where you’ll stay at the Château Saint Tropez. Lastly, lot 6 is a seven-night all-inclusive stay on the largest privately-owned residential yacht on the planet named, The World.
But going back to lot 2, here is where we — the watch nuts — take notice. Lot 2 is an exclusive execution of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, reference 26331. Audemars Piguet has been a partner of One Drop for just about a decade and the timepiece they’ve created for the “One Night for One Drop” event is a 41mm platinum piece, which is made unique by the purple “Grande Tapisserie” dial complemented by the outer minute track and sub dials in blue. The watch will come with a full platinum bracelet, as well an additional blue alligator strap, and has an estimated value of US$112,000.
