URWERK Introduces the UR-100V Full Titanium JacketBy Revolution
At long last, URWERK treats us to another all metal timepiece — case and bracelet — after the launch of the UR-210S Full Metal Jacket, back in 2015. Meet the all new UR-100V Full Titanium Jacket with its case and bracelet in — you guessed it — titanium. To be fair there were several other URWERK pieces prior to 2015, such as with the UR-202 White Shark (2010), UR-202S AlTiN “Hammerhead” Full Metal Jacket (2011), the one-off UR-210 Amadeus (2017) etc.
Shares Martin Frei, artist and co-founder of URWERK, “With the UR-100V Full Titanium Jacket, I am once again fulfilling a dream of mine. From my first sketches for URWERK until the present day, I have always envisioned and designed our creations on a metal bracelet. The latter is an extension of the watch around the wrist and in my mind, it complements the design perfectly. I like the fact that the material – in this this instance titanium – is quite cold when you put it on your wrist. It warms up slowly on contact, acclimatising to you and gently embracing your skin. This extremely light bracelet also makes a special sound when you play with its links. It feels good. It is beautiful. To me, this watch is a real success and I am happy to see it come to life for real.”
What’s cool about what Frei says here is that for anyone who has ever had the chance to meet the man, you would know that his daily wear watch has been for a long while now, his personal UR-210S Full Metal Jacket. The 2021 UR-100V Full Titanium Jacket features a very matte outlook, which is all the more amplified by the special bracelet fitted onto it, composed of 32 sandblasted titanium links.
Says Felix Baumgartner, URWERK co-founder and master-watchmaker, “Our goal was to make the most comfortable watch to wear. The UR-100V Full Titanium Jacket is a perfectly ergonomic watch. Its bracelet is ultra-light and incredibly soft against the skin. It’s a bracelet synonymous with pleasure.”
