Up Close with Grail Watch 5: Chronoswiss Opus Blue

Grail Watch returns with its fifth collaboration, a coalescence of two key chapters: the revival of a past icon reimagined with an incandescent luminous signature. We took the world’s first serially-produced self-winding skeletonized chronograph, the Chronoswiss Opus, and modernized its officer-style case in grade 5 titanium with an electric blue CVD-treatment. The translucency created by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) perfectly showcases the polished and brushed finishing of the case and the design details of the original that made it a classic: the fluted pushers and bezel, onion-shaped crown, and thin elegant lugs with screwed-in spring bar holders.

The Opus Blue is powered by the caliber C.741S, a Valjoux-based integrated chronograph movement with gold-plated skeletonized bridges that create a striking contrast with the blued-treatment. To make the dial stand out even further, cerulean blue Super-LumiNova has been applied generously to the four subdials and the minute track and the entire hour and minute hands emit a bright green glow. This watch is beautiful to behold in the day but completely transforms into a different nocturnal animal in the dark.

Grail Watch 5: Chronoswiss Opus Blue is a numbered edition of 30 pieces priced at CHF 13,300 each. Dropping on 13 February 2023, 10pm SGT | 9am EST | 3pm CET. Email [email protected] to register your interest.
