Steve McQueen was also famous for his incredible collection of automobiles. While taking acting lessons, he earned money by competing in local motorcycle races and developed a love of motor sports that would stay with him. One of his most recognizable cars was the black on black Porsche Speedster that he purchased in 1958. He kept the car in his collection until the late 1960s, when he sold it to real estate magnate, Bruce Meyer. It wasn’t long until he convinced Meyer to sell the Chassis 84855 back to him and he kept the beloved car until his death in 1980. His son, Chad, has kept the car in his own collection since.
