SIHH 2016: Piaget

Piaget is also one of the few manufactures that have demonstrated consummate skill at jewellery making and watchmaking, its calling card for the latter being ultra-thin movements, watches and at the cutting edge of thinness, fusion of the two.

Altiplano 900D

In 2014, Piaget set a thinnest watch record with its Altiplano 900P, where movement and case became one: the caseback was also the mainplate to which the movement components were affixed. The 900D here is the high jewellery variant, and the world’s thinnest haute joaillerie watch, at just 5.60mm thick. In 38mm white gold case, 304 diamonds (5.77 cts). Manual-wind movement with 48 hours’ power reserve.

Emperador Coussin XL 700P

TO Celebrate the 40th anniversary of its first in-house quartz movement, Piaget has created its first electronic-mechanical hybrid movement: here, a high frequency quartz oscillating at 32,768Hz controls the speed of the generator at 5.33 turns per second that drives the gear train. Self-winding movement with quartz generator, 42 hours’ power reserve. 46.5mm cushion case in white gold. Limited to 118 pieces.
