Returning in 2020: The Piaget Polo S in Green

Each year, as watch brands begin to release new models to market, writers and collectors across the world begin to speculate on the “trends of the year”. Even though the majority of the world’s releases have been massively delayed, we’ve still managed to make sense of a few key trends of the season, one of which is: Green is the new Blue, and Blue is the new Black.

Along with many other brands that are embracing the green philosophy (and by that, we mean going eco-conscious), Piaget is also hitching on to the color for its new Polo S Automatic.

The green trend has been hitting several brands hard in the last couple of years. Montblanc’s 1858 collection for 2019 was in a great shade of forest green, and an assortment of other brands have had green stunners as well. Piaget is no stranger to the emerald hue. Its history with stone dials of a wide variety, particularly in the collection of the classic Polo include jade or malachite dials.

In fact the Polo S itself has had a green dial limited edition in 2019. So what’s different now? We’re guessing that the limited edition was a big hit, prompting Piaget to develop a new model based on the lush green hue. The 2020 Polo S Automatic in green is also a limited edition, but differs from the 2019 model slightly. Apart from the non-limited model having a steel bracelet, there are also rose gold indexes and hands on the green guilloche dial.

The 2020 model will be limited to 888 pieces globally, sized at 42mm in steel and powered by the steady beater that is the Piaget 1110P. The watch will be priced at CHF 12,300 and available from June onwards.
