The New Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF Sport Chronograph In Rose Gold Sandstone

The latest Tonda PF Sport Chronograph - still sleek, understated and now in rose gold.

We have long been fans of the sleek, understated aesthetics of the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda PF family, beginning with the Tonda PF Micro Rotor that kickstarted the revival of the brand in 2021 through to our sold-out limited edition in 2022, nicknamed Serenissima and 2025’s Tonda PF GMT Rattrapante with a cool new lake-green dial.

The Tonda PF is all about stealth luxury and fine detailing, backed by solid in-house watchmaking know-how, all of which make for a winning combination. Indeed, for a while, the Tonda PF was a welcome respite that offered simplicity and elegance in the white noise of bling, ultra complications and over-design.

When it comes to the Tonda PF Sport family, the same aesthetics rule.

What’s New About the Latest Tonda PF Sport Chronograph

This new addition to the Tonda PF Sport Chronograph family essentially delivers more of what Parmigiani has come to do very well in 18 ct rose gold, a cool new dial color and a more symmetrical dial layout with a new and noted absence of the date window. The overall results are definitely pleasing, although the vibe is now evidently more luxe than sports.

In many ways, that’s to be expected. When it launched the Tonda PF Sport collection in 2023, Parmigiani had retained the streamlined aesthetics of the Tonda PF while tapping on the demand for a more assertive sports chic.

Many of the hallmarks of both Tonda PF and Tonda PF Sport are present in this latest incarnation. There is the knurled bezel that’s more pronounced with just 160 notches versus the 225 flutes of its more urbane cousin, alongside the distinctive skeletonized delta hands that are just a touch bolder with black luminescent tips. As with earlier Tonda PF Sport models (save for this year’s gorgeous PF Sport Chronograph Ultra-Cermet models), the dial is beautifully finished — here with the family’s Clou Triangulaire guilloche for a sharper, more angular look instead of the subtle elegance of Tonda PF’s Grain d’Orge.

This is not the brand’s first rose gold upgrade for the Tonda PF Sport chronograph. The launch variants in 2023 included a rose gold version with panda-style black subdials. But we must say that this iteration sans date window and paired with sandstone colored subdials and hand-applied rose gold indices discreetly filled with black Super LumiNova channels a far more pleasing contemporary luxe. The overall symmetry of the tricompax layout is also improved without the distraction of the date window, which had always seemed mildly out of place in the original chronograph models.

Not least, as with the recent Tonda PF Chronograph release, it is powered by the very respectable 5 Hz in-house automatic caliber PF070 — COSC certified, with a 65-hours power reserve and a classy 22K skeletonised gold rotor visible through its sapphire display case back.

At 42mm and 12.9mm thick, it lives up to the heft that the “sport” prefix might lead one to expect, compared to the new Tonda PF Chronograph which has been resized to a more contemporary 40mm. However, the lugs are wide and short, promising comfort and wearability, and in true sporty spirit, it comes with a high-grade rubber strap that is textured like Cordura and supple like leather.

While it has a water resistance of 100m, I can’t imagine anyone doing laps with this, save perhaps in a yacht up and down the Amalfi Coast. Then again, that is clearly on point for the luxury sports watch.
