To celebrate our 20th anniversary, we are pleased to unveil the Panerai × Revolution Luminor Marina Destro Carbotech™ PAM01708, a collaboration that expresses everything we love about Panerai — authenticity, heritage and absolute commitment to the brand’s military-coded design language. Created together with our friends at Panerai, this timepiece unites the heroic spirit of the Pre-Vendôme era with the material innovation that defines Panerai today.

Produced in a very limited edition of 100 numbered pieces, the Panerai × Revolution Luminor Marina Destro Carbotech™ PAM01708 features a case, bezel, crown guard, crown and lever all rendered in Carbotech™, save the caseback. Each watch is visually unique, thanks to the organic striations of layered carbon fiber.

When the idea of this anniversary collaboration surfaced, the first word that came instinctively was “Destro.” Panerai’s left-handed configuration, originally created for divers who wore instruments on both wrists, has always been one of the brand’s most distinctive and characterful expressions. The iconic crown guard placed at 9 o’clock gives the watch its unmistakable stance, whether worn on the right wrist as intended or rebelliously on the left.

At the same time, materials have long been central to Panerai’s evolution. Introduced in 2015, Carbotech™ gave the brand a way to achieve the blacked-out military aesthetic not through coatings, but through the material itself. Composed of thin layers of carbon fiber bound with PEEK and compressed under heat, Carbotech™ offers extremely high tensile strength while being dramatically lighter — 64 percent lighter than titanium and 80 percent lighter than steel. On the 10th anniversary of Carbotech™, we wanted to embrace the material in its fullest expression.

The result is a Destro constructed almost entirely in this remarkable composite, with our Revolution logo discreetly engraved on the lever as a personal signature.

This anniversary launch sits within the broader narrative explored in Wei’s latest story on Panerai, aptly titled: “The Amazing Panerai Luminor: A Completely Unobjective Guide to 10 Greatest References.” In this story, Wei traces Panerai’s evolution from its roots as the Italian Navy’s elite toolmaker, through the formative Pre-Vendôme era, to the modern references that signal the brand’s return to authenticity. Within that context, the PAM01708 represents a contemporary expression of Panerai’s core DNA.

For the dial, our inspiration came directly from that same era that shaped Panerai’s identity for a generation of collectors: the Pre-Vendôme era, which produced icons such as the Ref. 5218-218/A “Black Seal Slytech,” the PAM00036, the PAM00195 and of course, the PAM00599, on which we based our very first collaboration with Panerai 10 years ago. The PAM01708 draws from this lineage with a matte black sandwich dial and beige Super-LumiNova on the indices, numerals and hands. We love the ensuing contrast between the vintage aesthetic and the modernity of Carbotech™.

Inside is the Caliber P.9010, Panerai’s in-house automatic movement with a three-day power reserve stored in two spring barrels wound by a bi-directional oscillating weight. The PAM01708 is water-resistant to 300 meters and offers hours, minutes, small seconds and stop seconds.
