IWC Schaffhausen

Introducing the IWC Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Right-hander”

Share
Lefties rejoice. Schaffhausen based watchmaker, IWC has given their iconic Big Pilot watch a twist with its crown flipped over to the left side of its case. Named the Big Pilot’s Watch Edition “Right-hander”, or if #watchfam has anything to say about it, the Big Pilot “Destro”, is a 46.2 mm stainless steel piece.

“Right-hander” because it’s meant to be worn on the right hand with the crown out for you to manipulate with your left hand (not that it’s a watch for right handed individuals).

The watch has a slate colored dial with a bi-compax layout that has the 7-day power reserve indicator on the left and the running seconds on the right of it. A small date window is, thereafter, placed at 6 o’clock.

All of this is enabled by the IWC manufacture calibre 52010 with the Pellaton automatic winding mechanism. The movement has a soft-iron layer that sits between itself and the case to protect the mechanical timepiece from the adverse effects of magnetism.

The real novelty of the watch is, of course, that for the first time ever IWC has placed the onion crown of the Big Pilot on the left of its case, Making it the first “destroy-type” Big Pilot. Unfortunately the watch will be issued in a limited run of 250 pieces. So if you happen to be the 251st person to call your local IWC boutique, tough luck buddy.
