Introducing the Richard Mille RM 11-03 Le Mans Classic
Following on from its highly successful episode in 2016, the biennial motoring event will, once again, descend upon the Circuit de la Sarthe from July 6 to 8, 2018.
Some 500 cars that raced on the track from 1923 – 1981 are expected to be seen at the circuit this year. These are then split into 6 different groups according to their racing periods. A 7th category — Group C, which was started as of 2016 — then brings together GT and prototype cars from 1982 through to 1993; a period of time that is termed, the Golden Age of Endurance by those in the know.
Behind the racing machines will be a lineup of well-known drivers from the racing world, including 2009 F1 World Champion, Jenson Button — who will join Group C driving a 1988 Jaguar XJR-9 — as well as other former 24 Hours winners such as Henri Pescarolo, Jochen Mass and Stéphane Ortelli.
Coming back to the RM 11-03 LMC mentioned earlier, this is the first time we see the RM 11-03 in white ceramic, dressed in British racing green on the tachymeter, sub dials and crown.
The RM 11-03, as we know it, is of course, an automatic flyback chronograph paired with an oversized date display at 12 o’clock and month display 4 and 5 o’clock — and for the first time, a 24-hour chronograph totalizer at 6 o’clock. 24 because, you know, 24 hours of Le Mans.
The timepiece is slated to be officially launched over the 2018 Le Mans weekend in a limited issue of 150 pieces.
