Introducing Harry Winston’s New Ocean Collection

It is time for the famed “King of Jewelers” watchmaking division to take us on its annual journey, heightened by the brand’s architectural and mechanical complexities. Let us see what Harry Winston has in store for us this season.

Ocean Biretrograde Yellow and Orange Automatic 36

The joyful Ocean Biretrograde Yellow and Orange Automatic 36, featuring diamonds and yellow sapphires or orange spessartites.

The Ocean Biretrograde watches combine Harry Winston’s original mechanics and dazzling beauty. The design and functions on the dial showcase a shade of originality for which Harry Winston is pretty well-known. However, these two stunning new references and their colorful —yet very rich— aesthetics also remind us to have an upbeat attitude.

Filled with color, Harry Winston ventures into a joyful summer, thanks to this very chic update of the ever-cool Ocean Biretrograde. The 36mm Ocean watch dares to mix the bright tones of the yellow and orange hues of the alligator leather straps with the everlasting shine of brilliant-cut diamonds on the lugs and on the mother-of-pearl dial. Depending on the reference, warm orange sapphires or retina-melting yellow spessartites highlight the Ocean Biretrograde’s structure, with its pair of retrograde gauges, one for the 30-seconds scale (on the left) and the other for the day of the week, each one cruising at its own pace and in a different direction. At 6 o’clock, there’s a date window, should you need it.

The Ocean Biretrograde watches are powered by the HW3302 automatic movement that delivers 65 hours of power reserve

The asymmetrical case of the Ocean family is crafted in 18k white gold and set with 41 brilliant-cut yellow sapphires or orange spessartites on the bezel and 16 brilliant-cut diamonds on the lugs.

The asymmetrical 36mm case of the Ocean is crafted in 18k white gold and set with 41 brilliant-cut yellow sapphires or orange spessartites on the bezel and 16 brilliant-cut diamonds on the lugs. Inside, the heavily decorated HW3302 automatic movement features a white gold rotor, artisanal finishings, and sapphires or spessartites, depending on the model. Both references are limited to only 20 pieces of each.

Zalium Variations Yellow and Orange

Available in striking colours, Harry Winston's new Zalium models are an evolution of Project Z10 from 2016.

Now, this is interesting. We haven’t gotten to the ever-expected Project Z Zalium-cased watch yet but we are already struck by the presence of Harry Winston’s proprietary alloy in a couple of timepieces. Zalium is a lightweight zirconium-based alloy exclusive to the New York-born brand. The substance is quite strong and light, while its color is entirely appropriate to enhance the technicality of the Project Z timepieces.

Today, HW unveils these Zalium Variations, which are a vivid evolution of the Project Z Z10 from 2016. Housed in high-tech cases, the open-worked dials of these watches expose their technical architecture, inspired by the Manhattan Bridge. The contrast between the Zalium case and the color accents on the dial will undoubtedly make you smile, knowing that HW’s excellent retrograde complications and ‘New Age’ metal go very well with the youthful tones.

Inspired by the Manhattan bridge, the two new Zalium variations reveal a unique and openworked design with black sandblasted bridges on the dial.

The watch has a 42.2mm satin-brushed Zalium case reflecting the same advanced mechanical aesthetics as the Project Z10.

The new Zalium Variation models are housed in a 42.2mm satin-brushed Zalium case with the same advanced aesthetics and features as the Project Z10. The self-winding HW3305 caliber features a silicon balance spring and has a robust 65-hours power reserve.

Project Z15

The Project Z15 presents Harry Winston's classical regulator dial layout with an added twist of a retrograde seconds indication.

Always unmissable, here’s the new “Z”, the fifteenth edition of the brand’s Zalium saga. Harry Winston’s Project Z is distinguished by its fusion of classic horological composition with the Big Apple-inspired architectural elements. Incorporating a partially skeletonized minute hand in the brand’s signature blue hue, the Project Z15 is a modern interpretation of the regulator clock, where its design “deconstruction” separates the time indications. The very cool Z15 will be limited to 300 units globally.

Inspired by regulator clocks, a large and partially skeletonized hand with blue and red extremities marks the passing minutes on the blue counter on Project Z15’s dial.

A large skeletonized hand with blue and red pointer marks the  minutes on the blue ring around the dial. All the dial elements of Project Z15 pay homage to Harry Winston and to the city where he founded his eponymous jewelry brand in 1932. The classic blue color recalls the rare 45.52-carat blue Hope Diamond that Winston acquired in 1949. Mirroring one another, the bridges form an octagon shape, another recurrent theme at Harry Winston given Mr. Winston’s preference for emerald-cut gemstones. The octagonal emerald shape is repeated in the signature gold Harry Winston logo at 12 o’clock.

The gray 42.2mm Zalium case displays a satin finish throughout, including the hallmark arches guarding the crown. The sapphire crystal case back offers a view of the traditionally-finished, automatic caliber HW3207 (good for 65 hours when fully wound).
