Hublot‘s love of football should be news to precisely no one, as the makers of the Big Bang have been formally involved with the beautiful game since 2006, and with the Argentian Football since 2010, when they released a limited edition in honour of Maradona. Since 2022 they’ve teamed up with the Argentine Football Association (AFA), and they’ve celebrating the relationship with not one, but three limited editions.

There’s a pair of Big Bang Unico models, one in titanium, the other in King Gold, both of which are pretty limited. Then there’s a more extensive run of Classic Fusion models in titanium. While each model has its own distinct personality, there’s a common thread in that each model is decked out in blue, the colour of Argentina. The Big Bang models replicate the shade of blue worn on Argentina’s kit worn in home games, while the Classic Fusion offers the darker navy blue worn in away games.

The standout for me is the Big Bang Unico King Gold. Clocking in at 42 mm in diameter, the ceramic bezel is in the aforementioned sky blue of the official jersey of the AFA — the Albiceleste. The shade is also picked up on the rubber strap. The case and pushers are made of King Gold, Hublot’s proprietary alloy which promises a warmer hue than 5N gold. The same essential theme is picked up on the titanium model, except the case material is (obviously) titanium.

Finally, the 140-piece Hublot Classic Fusion AFA offers a more restrained way to celebrate your love of Messi and co, thanks to the more restrained design and the darker blue. Of course, watches made for the Argentine Football Association have, almost by definition, a niche appeal. But honestly, that’s the glory of Hublot — they’re willing to celebrate a love of watches (and Football) in a truly global way.
