Hermès at Watches and Wonders 2026
Skeletonised movements and open-worked dials have long fascinated watch lovers by shining a spotlight on the inner mechanics of a watch. Earlier this year, Hermès showed just why with sleek new iterations of its 2022 GPHG nominee, the Slim d’Hermès Squelette Lune featuring its ultra-thin skeletonized H1953 movement. This fair season, the maison stays on theme for its Watches and Wonders novelties with two new skeletonized movements and open-worked dials for its popular H08 and Arceau Samarcande collections.
Hermès H08 Squelette
Unveiled at Watches and Wonders in 2021, the sporty H08 has become one of Hermès’ most successful collections in recent years, and understandably so. The rounded cushion-shaped case with sleek geometric lines and well-considered details that reference its high fashion lineage, along with robust mechanics, modern styling and relatively accessible price points, all add up to an appealingly quality package. Hermès has since experimented with different colours and materials, and even added a complication to the mix with last year’s monopusher chronograph. All of which has, naturally, added to the appeal of the H08.

This latest release continues the upward trajectory of the H08 with the Squelette. While Hermès has retained the same 39mm case construction as per the original, here it is in black DLC-treated sand-blasted titanium with ceramic bezel. The dial is open-worked while retaining the bold sporty aesthetics that we have come to associate with the H08. The impression is modern and graphical, with strong sculptural lines framing the exposed movement.
The most evident upgrade, however, is on the new self-winding H1978 S skeleton movement that is fully made of titanium and beats at 4Hz with 60 hours of power reserve. The material is so chosen for its light weight and strength, as well as its synergy with the sporty H08 family. The shape of the oscillating weight is distinctive, referencing that of the case.
There are two dial variations, with applied Arabic numerals in either blue or grey Super-Luminova, paired with a structured woven-patterned rubber strap available in five colours.

Hermès Arceau Samarcande
The insider look continues in one of Hermès most recognizable collections, the Arceau designed by Henri d’Origny in 1978. For 2026, the familiar round case with asymmetrical stirrups-inspired lugs returns as a minute repeater powered by a new H1927 S skeletonised movement with micro-rotor. The dial comes in white or blue Saint-Louis crystal, with a sapphire cut-out in the shape of a horse’s head in keeping with the equestrian theme, offering a glimpse of the beautifully finished skeletonized movement. The sapphire caseback, meanwhile, shows off its full glory as detailed in finely bevelled angles, mirror polishing, chamfering and circular satin finishing and bead blasting.
