Dubai Watch Week Horology Forum 2022

The eighth edition of Dubai Watch Week’s Watch Forum goes to New York for two days of talking, learning and sharing about watches.

Founded in 2015 by Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons, Dubai Watch Week is a biennial highlight on the watch enthusiast’s calendar, and not just in Dubai. In order to widen the conversation about watches, the event’s Horology Forum in alternate years is held in a different part of the world, bringing with it a program of talks, masterclasses and activities that celebrate the love for watchmaking with local communities, while deepening knowledge and appreciation for the craft. This year, the Watch Forum heads to Manhattan’s meatpacking district in New York.

Programs include panel discussions on American watchmaking, the impact of consumers on brand design decisions, cryptocurrency and watch collecting trends. This edition of Horology Forum will also see the debut of a new debate format, titled ‘ClickClock’, which is intended to give the audience an opportunity to pose disruptive questions to leaders in the luxury industry. Once the clock runs out on the debate, the floor is open to the audience. Topics to be debated upon include challenges and opportunities faced by family-owned brands, between retaining family leadership or passing the baton to professionals outside the family; and the pros and cons of supporting heritage or emerging brands. Adding to the festivities is an exclusive pop-up café titled ‘Sandwatch’ offering New York City-themed fare to guests and passersby.

“Channelling the incredible diversity of talent, interests, cultures and people of New York City, this edition of our Horology Forum has been purposefully curated to focus on our overarching objective of providing an educational platform for all attendees and fostering connections,” says Hind Seddiqi, Director General of Dubai Watch Week. “We look forward to welcoming new and existing watch lovers to an experience designed to celebrate the passion of our community.”
