Crime Alert: Rare Yellow Gold Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 Stolen from Davidoff BrothersBy Revolution
Roy & Sacha Davidoff SA have just reported via their Instagram account that a rare yellow gold Patek Philippe ref. 1518 has been stolen from their Geneva location, over the weekend.
Full details for the stolen watch can be found on their website here.
On the Instagram post made to alert the watch community, the brothers have indicated that a heist was carried out by a “crew of scam artists” last Saturday (19 August 2017). Thus making for the second case of theft in Geneva this month and the sixth to have occured in the city this year.
The watch can be identified by its case number: 668376 and its movement number: 868015, which were as well published in the above-mentioned post.
Scholars have noted that the Patek Philippe perpetual calendar chronograph, ref. 1518, was made between 1941 and 1954 with just 281 examples known. Most of these are in yellow and pink gold, save for four pieces in stainless steel. One of which is, of course, the $11 million-dollar record holder — the world’s most expensive wristwatch — that went under the hammer with Phillips Watches at their November 2016 sales, in Geneva.
