Crazy Rich Asians Star, Henry Golding Shows GQ His Watch Collection
But as he shared recently with GQ, in a short video interview, it appears that Golding has been collecting timepieces for a while now. He had four pieces with him for the chat, showcasing the variety of his interest in watches: a Cartier Pasha XL Moonphase, a vintage Omega Seamaster De Ville, the earlier mentioned Santos 100 and, lastly, a Tudor Black Bay Black.
This early Black Bay Black was introduced by Tudor in October of 2015. It was at Baselworld 2016 that the brand then introduced the next generation of the Black Bay family of watches fitted with their new in-house COSC certified caliber, MT5602. The dial also received a facelift with the brand’s shield logo and three lines of text at 6 o’clock.
Which means to say: The first-generation Black Bay Black was introduced and then taken off production within a mere four months. Granted Tudor’s production capacity suggest there would’ve still been a healthy number produced — still, just four months’ worth!
Think about it, in order to have bought the Black Bay Black at the time of its release, Golding would’ve had to have been aware of Tudor’s coming of age. Or else, had he sought out the watch after it was out of production, then that would suggest that he deliberately went out and looked for the first-generation Black Bay Black. Either way, his pre-watch acquisition homework was on point.
