Certina Goes Deep – Very Deep – With The DS Super PH2000M
When we talk about 2,000 metre dive watches, it can sound inherently ridiculous, as most of us would never actually need that number. These days, 100 to 300 metres have become the gold standard that we can be happy with, and even then, these watches rarely get field tested anywhere close to their limits. Most of us are not saturation divers, naval specialists, or people casually wandering around the oceanic trenches.
But I understand that it is also part of the appeal for these watches. Overengineered everyday objects and tools can be really cool in their own right, especially when they are attainable and not priced way out of reach for the masses.
That is where Certina’s DS Super PH2000M comes in. This is the brand’s newest heavy-duty dive watch, with an obvious headline number of 2,000 metres of water resistance, or 200 bar, in a titanium case, an automatic movement, ceramic bezel, helium escape valve, bracelet, additional strap, and a price of USD 1,440. That is a fairly outrageous amount of capability for the money, especially coming from a reputable Swiss brand.

It’s not particularly in trend with the small watches of today, and frankly it was never going to be. At 43mm diameter and 16mm thick, it’s a respectable size and fits firmly in the proper instrument watch category.
It is important to know as well that the DS Super PH2000M feels and still look like a Certina dive watch with its familiar design-language such as the vintage-style crosshair dials, bold pops of color, and recurring “DS” and “PH” stamps.

The brand’s DS, or Double Security, concept dates back to 1959 and has long been about making watches with added protection against shocks, pressure and everyday abuse. The PH line, on the other hand, stands for “Pression Hydrostatique” or hydrostatic pressure, which is basically the pressure water puts on a watch as it goes deeper underwater and at these depths, every part of the watch is under stress. Certina’s PH deep-dive tool watches were built to withstand this since the 1960s.
With the release of Certina’s DS Super PH1000M in 2023, it was only a matter of time till we saw an advancement and the next step. The DS Super PH2000M continues the spec-sheet progression, doubling the 1000metre benchmark set by the previous and with the introduction of a modern titanium case.
The case is made with Grade 2 titanium – exactly the kind of material you’d want for something this capable and robust. It keeps the watch light, and offers a strong corrosion resistance. The bezel uses a ceramic insert and has a push-to-turn security system avoiding any accidental rotation. Besides the usual dive-watch necessities like a screw-down crown and caseback, it also has an automatic helium escape valve at 9 o’clock for decompression during saturation diving.

Legibility is treated with the same practical approach, with hands and indexes coated with Super-LumiNova, a domed sapphire crystal, anti-reflective coating, and a time-and-date dial layout that keeps things simple.
Powering the watch is the Powermatic 80.611, giving it 80 hours of autonomy and a Nivachron balance spring, which protects it from magnetism, temperature fluctuations and physical shocks.
The collection comes in four executions; a black dial with orange accents; a white dial with blue bezel; a yellow dial with a black bezel; and a blue/turquoise gradient dial with a black dial, connected to Certina’s Sea Turtle Conservancy partnership, limited to 1,959 pieces.
The Sea Turtle Conservancy link is not new for the brand, and the 1,959-piece number neatly ties together the founding year of the STC and the launch year of Certina’s DS concept. Each version also comes with a titanium bracelet and a second strap, depending on the model, which is another nice value add at this price.
The DS Super PH2000M is available worldwide from 17 June 2026, with pricing set at USD 1,440.
