After a banner year in 2025 with the 50^th anniversary of the Laureato, Girard Perregaux shows no sign of slowing down in 2026. For Geneva Watch Days, the house is bringing things up a notch with the Laureato Fifty Tourbillon Micro-Rotor in 39mm. This comes after the introduction of a new 36mm size and four new references earlier in the year.

Based on the reworked Laureato Fifty unveiled last year, the new Laureato Fifty Tourbillon Micro-Rotor is a sleek, elegant number that shows off the legacy of the house in fine fashion. There are two new references and both bear the upgrades of the 2025 Laureato Fifty: new streamlined proportions, a more compact and contemporary 39mm size, refined finishing, and an ergonomic bracelet with discreet micro-adjustment system that allows for 4mm of extension, tucked beneath its triple-folding clasp.

What catches the eye in the latest iterations is, of course, the tourbillon at 6 o’clock. Its lyre-shaped cage spins away, making a full rotation every minute. It is held by a white gold bridge in the signature Girard Perregaux arrow shape, one of the house’s most recognizable codes. First created by Constant Girard in 1884 for his tourbillon with three bridges, which previously bore straight bridges, it continues to appear across the maison’s collections more than 140 years later.

Another signature design hallmark is the Clous de Paris motif, which appears on the dial in two executions: a rich shimmering blue grand feu enamel on white gold, and an equally fetching rose gold finish on 18K solid gold. The motif appeared with the very first Laureato in 1975, even though it wasn’t rightfully called that then. (It was the Quartz Chronometer, which was later recognized as the first Laureato.)

The design is echoed on the movement’s white gold bridges gorgeously showcased via the sapphire caseback. This, of course, is entirely in keeping with Girard Perregaux’s tradition of making bridges both functional and decorative. Its classic arrow-shape bridge, too, makes an appearance on the platinum and pink gold micro-rotor that’s off-centered.

The Laureato Fifty Tourbillon Micro-Rotor in 39mm is powered by the new automatic caliber GP8410. This is the fourth new caliber by Girard Perregaux in under 12 months, following the GP4800 launched with the Laureato Fifty in 2025, the GP9620 showcased in the Three Gold Bridges Tourbillon, and the stunning GP9530 skeletonised movement for the Minute Repeater Flying Bridges. It is no mean feat indeed and quite exceptional for a manufacture of this scale. The new movement beats at 21,600 vph and offers 72 hours of power reserve.
