It’s wild to think that 2022 marks the 10th anniversary of the Octo design, and Bvlgari is celebrating with a series of precious designs, like the Octo Finissimo Skeleton 8 Days. Known for both its slender profile and strong silhouette, this version of the Octo Finissimo shows both to full advantage, with a new skeletonised caliber, the BVL 199 SK — which offers not just a visually stunning movement that is 2.5mm thick (in total the watch is 5.95mm thick), but also promises a mighty eight days of power reserve. Bravo Bvlgari!

Of course, the brand’s celebration of the Octo continues with new interpretations of the regular automatic, and the Chronograph GMT models, offered in a rose gold case with a mix of satin-brushed and polished finishes and brown lacquer dial. There’s also a USA-exclusive limited edition that’s offered in yellow gold. The dial is rich like chocolate and glimmers thanks to the sunburst finish. These new additions to the core Octo Finissimo collection further accent the versatility of the design, and are a positive indicator for the next 10 years of the Octo.

Not all the new Octo Finissimo’s Bvlgari has released are golden, though. This 360-piece limited edition in steel has been made with Pritzker prize-winning architect Kazuyo Sejima. This edition expresses the aesthetics of Sejima’s work, with mirrored finishes and a dial Sejima has designed featuring an entrancing dot pattern that interplays with the facets of the Octo Finissimo case.

The third instalment in a trilogy of special Aluminium Bulgari’s has also been released, made with Japanese artist Sorayama, and inspired by his gleaming hyper-real art, and the aesthetics of futurism. This is most evident on the dial of the 40mm watch, which has been given a pearlescent finish evoking the finishes on planes and automobiles. The only numeral on the dial is 2, Sorayama’s lucky number.

Of course, Bvlgari is known primarily as a jewellry house, so it should come as no surprise that they’re showing some new expressions of their iconic feminine designs. This year the focus is on the Serpenti, particularly the Serpenti Seduttori. There’s two new quartz models in black and gold (with or without diamonds, but the highlight has to be the Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon. This incredible creation is dripping with diamonds and spinels on the dial, case and sinuous strap. The caliber is equally as impressive; the manually wound BVL 150 is 3.65mm thin, and shows off the iconic complication at six. Finally, the Serpenti Spiga is another hallmark of the brand, one that makes use of the Tubogas technique to create a snake that curls up the forearm. This snake is crafted from gold and black ceramic, for a contemporary and technical take on a modern classic
