Bulgari Makes Major Contribution in Fight Against COVID-19By Revolution
Bulgari has not simply championed the recent inception Geneva Watch Days 2020 (26-29 April), they are also doing their part in the fight against the COVID-19 situation in a most tangible way. And this, particularly in time when the virus has caused Italy has had to implement “the largest clampdown against the coronavirus in the Western world (nytimes.com).”
Bulgari has just made a substantial contribution to the Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital, which is Italy’s Institute for Infectious Diseases based in Rome. Here, three researchers, Maria Rosaria Capobianchi, Francesca Colavita and Concetta Castilletti have managed to succfully isolate the virus in under 48 hours.
Now to further their understanding of the virus, Bulgari’s contribution has allowed the institute to purchase a state of art new 3D microscope, which will be a crucial tool in the researchers’ development of better diagnosis, an effective vaccine and, ultimately, a cure.
The Lazzaro Spallanzani Hospital took delivery of the microscope just ahead of the weekend with Bulgari CEO, Mr Jean-Christophe Babin present for the occasion.
Marta Branca, General Manager of Spallanzani spoke at commend Bulgari for their contribution saying, “We are honored by the donation of Bulgari which will allow us to strengthen research on the developments of COVID-19 in such a delicate moment. I thank, in particular the CEO, Jean-Christophe Babin, for his commitment and his availability towards the Institute.”
Sharing his thoughts on the initiative, Mr Babin himself spoke saying, “The team of researchers can now work with the most technologically advanced tools, accelerating the achievement of the result and to benefit everyone on the planet potentially victim of the virus, starting from China where it exploded first. We hope our contribution we’ll help speeding up the antivirus treatments and we are proud to give it to our hometown scientific team of Lazzaro Spallanzani who made this extraordinary breakthrough.”
