USA Watchmaking on Show at American Timepiece AustinBy Keith W. Strandberg
Showcasing a variety of American watch brands and suppliers to the watch industry, American Timepiece Austin welcomes watch lovers and collectors to the Texas city October 12-13. Organized by the American Watchmakers-Clockmakers Institute (AWCI), the event will include American watchmakers TOCKR, Vortic, Dufrane, Origin, Schon and more. Strap makers like Everest and tool vendors like Eckcells will be exhibiting as well.
“The opportunity for networking at the AWCI convention and the American Timepiece Fair could not be any better,” says Craig R. Stone, Certified Watchmaker of the 21st Century. “With the chance to speak with professional watchmakers and clockmakers, major supply houses, major manufacturers, and micro brands, why would you stay away?”
Vortic Watches’s R.T. Custer will be attending. “I am trying to find and hire watchmakers, and they are unfortunately far and few between in the US, so I’m working with AWCI to help me get the word out!” he says. Vortic will also be displaying their timepieces, including the Red Rocks Limited Edition.
The show will be held at the Holiday Inn Austin Midtown, and free tickets are available on the AWCI website, http://www.americantimepiece.com/austin.
